Tropics Bar & Grill at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Offers Food, Fun and Ambiance
It’s been a year after since the grand opening of the Tropics Bar & Grill at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa and the reviews still are raving on the menu and ambiance along Waikiki Beach.
Chef Shannon Olvera and her team have recently introduced new items to the lunch menu including a margherita pizza and a barbecue pulled pork sandwich. On the dinner menu, a New York steak and grilled tenderloin of beef and grilled shrimp have been added. The restaurant’s perennial top-sellers, the furikake and beer-battered fish and chips, and hoisin-glazed baby back ribs, remain on both lunch and dinner menus. Tropics Bar & Grill is also open daily at 7 a.m. for breakfast. Some of the more popular items on its breakfast menu include the healthy yogurt and granola bar, buttermilk or honey wheat cranberry pancakes, Hawaiian bananas foster French toast and Big Island goat cheese quiche. Tropics Bar & Grill is located prime beachfront property on the ground floor of the resort’s Alii Tower. It boosts a 36-seat bar with views of Waikiki Beach and 4 LCD TVs around its bar, showing the best in sports programming. The restaurant’s bar serves a variety of brews, cocktails and tropical drinks, including the Blue Hawaii, which was invented at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in the 1950s.
Tropics’ breakfast, lunch, appetizer and dinner dishes celebrate local farmers and their products. Hilton Hawaiian Village Executive Chef Jeffrey Vigilla is making it his mission to support the sustainability movement and uses as many local ingredients in his menus as possible. Since his return to the islands nearly two years ago, Vigilla has visited nearly every local supplier, fisherman and farmer that provides products to the resort.
Tropics is open daily from 7 to 10 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for all-day dining, and features nightly live music by Hawaii’s top artists, including Cecilio Rodriguez, Acoustik Playground and Beach 5.
