What Goes Up, Must Come Down – Fitness Journal April 17, 2012
I came back from Maui 3 pounds heavier.
Oh, I’m not upset. I knew what I was doing with the constant food tasting and meet and greets with chefs. It’s a professional hazard and I am learning to work with it. I worked out so very little in Maui. Again, I knew what the consequences would be.
So what do you do when this happens? When life takes over and you fall behind?
Nothing to do but recover and work your ass off really. I returned from Maui and it has been pedal to the metal with fitness. I LOVE working out and am looking forward to being pushed hard to burn the weight off and not loose what I have accomplished so far.
And man, have I come far.
I could’ve gotten all sad and angry at the 3 pounds, but why? It wasn’t like I didn’t know this would/could happen.
Just take the bull by the horn and own it. I have a lot to be proud of, and in case I forget here’s a reminder:
And I am not done. Just getting stronger, and feeling amazing in the process.
I let myself enjoy my time away, and though I would’ve preferred to have had the time to workout just because it really makes me feel invigorated for the rest of the day, I am not beating myself up over it.
I’m just back to hitting the gym, going for walks, staying active, and controlling my diet. I’m realistic about my goals, my life, and my achievements. It’s the best approach to staying on this life changing path to fitness.
So, if you ever find yourself in the same shoes, just remember: It’s not the end of the world. What goes up, must come down. And it will. It’s a few pounds gained while having an amazing time. Now, it’s time to work!
