The Gift of Photography with SONY NEX-5T
When I joined the Sony Club last year, I was given a new camera. The Sony NEX 5R is much lighter than my Canon Rebel, the camera I had used since day one of my blogging career. It had apps and filters that made taking photos a lot more interesting and fun in an easier way.
I tried it out in San Diego, then nervously I left my Canon home and took my new camera on assignment in France. I say nervously because I wasn’t sure if this little camera would deliver in quality or capture the images in a way that would make me happy. Turns out that I really had nothing to fear. I photographed Bordeaux, St. Emilion, andBergerac all with my , and haven’t stopped using it since.
Until now. Sony has since upgraded to the NEX-5T and I am just trying it out and remain so pleased and so in love with this camera. Though the camera offers tons of pre-set options for shooting, it also allows me to grow as a photographer in manual mode.
I received theSony NEX-5T for review, but also to experience what it is like to receive the Mother’s Day Alpha Bundle. I say “experience” because it’s more than receiving a really great camera in a box. It is, well, a thoughtful and beautiful gift.
My first impression…and I hadn’t even taken the camera out of the box.
The packaging design is just stunning. It was the opening of the box, and then the book, and then the product, and the rose petals inside, the one surprise after another that made it special.

I went out yesterday and a bit this morning to take some shots to share with you, but I am excited to get back out there and continue to play with it.
I love that though the camera has tons of filters and press-sets for shooting, it also allows for room to grow out of auto that help make shots like this one of the Manhattan skyline possible.
For these close up shots, I use a SONY SEL-P 4/18-105 E-Mount Lens.
Love the quality of images and range with the alpha bundle’s kit lens!
When it comes to photography, I have learned that it’s not really so much about how much money you spend on gear, though the more you get into it, the more money you will want to spend on gear. It really helps to have an non-intimidating, easy to use, easy to learn with camera that makes capturing what is special to you an enjoyable process. This bundle truly makes for a wonderful gift this coming Mother’s Day for mom, or anyone in your life who loves photography.
Stay connected with me via Instagram and here on the blog to check out the images I capture here at home and while traveling with the NEX-5T, which thanks to its wireless capabilities, makes it super easy to quickly share online.
