Gifts for The Foodie

Last year I highlighted some great gifts for the travel lover in your life. This time around, I’ve come across some great gift ideas that I think the foodie you love will enjoy too. Of course, this could very well be the same person, which in that case means you have gift ideas galore!

The Pineland Farms Experience

A great gift for the foodie lover in your life  is to combine food and travel with a visit to Pineland Farms to experience their beautiful farm, get close and personal with their Dutch Warmblood horses, shop at their market, and visit their creamery, from which they produce their delicious, antiobiotic-free, artificial growth hormone-free cheeses and spreads. The farm itself is so picturesque that it is often reserved as a destination wedding spot.

If you can’t make it to New Gloucester, ME, then ordering one of their cheese gift baskets is also a great treat. One of my friends was with me when I first received my gift basket and she just went on and on about how her favorite gift in the wide world are cheese baskets, with the goodies in this particular Pineland basket being some of the best she’s tasted to date (mental note: get that girl a cheese gift basket).pineland farms cheese basket_girlgonetravel

The Deluxe Cheese and Cracker Basket is a great first try of these award-winning cheese, because of the variety of cheese it comes with. From smoked Jack to spreadable Baby Swiss, with red wine and white wine crackers, it was so good. Pair it up with some one wine and you have a perfect picnic and gift.

Try The World

I got wind of this little box of awesomeness from my friends Captain and Clark. I’m a sucker for a good foodie gift box. Add the element of travel to the mix and I am hooked! My first shipment of Try The World was a bit of Paris in an almost Tiffany-blue box. There were all sorts of goodies in there like teas and salter butter caramel from Brittany, as well as sea salt from the Southern coast of France. There was mustard from Dijon (yay! Dijon!) and nougat from Montélier.

It was like this gift that just kept on going. Head on over to Captain & Clark and take advantage of their discount code that you can apply to your first order. And enjoy your food journey!

Food & Drink Guides

There are two things I know for sure: I will never go hungry in Paris, nor will I ever be thirsty in London. That’s because I am the proud owner of The Food Lover’s Guide to Paris: The Best Restaurants, Bistros, Cafés, Markets, Bakeries, and More, and Drink London: The 100 Best Bars and Pubs.

The Food Lover’s Guide has over 500 eating spots that range from bistros to markets and more, as well as a French/English food glossary to help in the translation of things.

Drink London features everything from local pub to upscale watering hole, all with essential orders to help get you started and beautiful photography to inspire you.

Italian Cooking Classes

Cooking classes in Eataly are some of my favorite cooking classes around. The cooking school is headed by Dean and Chef Lidia Bastianich who often joins the talent team of chefs that help to make Italian cooking fun and easy. Do it on your own, as a couple, or as a family. Either way, I have always enjoyed my visits there and eating the dishes I make afterwards.

It’s a fun experience to share, especially with someone who gets equally excited about food. Because what’s the point of foodie gifts if you can’t share them with the ones you love.
