Favorites for a Family Vacation in Aruba

The school year has started for a lot of families and we're all getting into the routine of things. But before you put away those bathing suits, don't forget about the long list of holidays to come before the year comes to an end, which makes for a great excuse t[...]

Rhone Valley, France: Road Maps and Photo Tour

Every time I visit a new destination in France I think that I have seen the one that beats them all, until I visit another. I'm learning that it's difficult to compare regions with each other because they are all so different and each have something beautiful to o[...]

Guatemala behind the scenes with CoEd

The roads were bumpy and winding as we made our way deeper to the countryside of Guatemala. Our CoEd tour group and sponsoring Rotary board members were on our way to visit a sponsored school. I could hear the sounds of cheering and music as our van approached[...]

Travel Tips: Summer road trips with small children

I’ve written about road tripping often on my site because it is one of the most fun and money-saving ways for our family to travel. (You can read my post on Planning a Summer Road Trip for more on the logistics involved). To some people who see the happy faces of[...]

Electric Bike Tour through the TerraVentoux Winery

There are so many fun ways to experience a winery. Tasting the wine, is of course, top of the list. But how about a bit of easy bike riding through the vineyards as well? Now, before the shock of "drinking and riding" hits you, let me know that the riding is on an[...]

What my multigenerational family vacation taught me

I have been traveling with my children since they were in diapers and drinking out of bottles. One of my favorite moments in travel was hiking along the Black Hills of South Dakota with a moody tween, a feisty 2 year old, and a 1 year old who refused to wear pant[...]

24 Wonderful Hours in Paris

Last year, when I visited Paris on vacation with my family, it rained every single day we were here...except for the day we were heading home. Despite this, my family and I had the best time. We visited the Louvre, climbed to the top of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dam[...]

Enjoying the Major Holidays in A Small Way

As another holiday weekend approaches, kicking-off a series of summer festivities enjoyed by travelers near and far, my family and I are planning in two ways: either staying close to home and celebrating in our small New Jersey suburb or by traveling to smaller tow[...]

Family is everything

This is the foundation upon which I raise my children. This is the mantra I repeat in my head. And this week, where one of the most important milestones of my family's life took place, and where I haven't, until now, been able to work or blog, barely tweet or Faceb[...]

Signs of autumn 🍂 in the Finger Lakes. Signs of autumn 🍂 in the Finger Lakes.
A wonderful weekend was had. We worked hard, but t A wonderful weekend was had. We worked hard, but then we rested even harder. We celebrated a successful cafe pop-up and a birthday in the city we love with people we love even more. Feels lucky, and we are grateful.

We are celebrating @travisjcain today on his birth We are celebrating @travisjcain today on his birthday but also for all he does for me and our sweet little family. Here we are in a lux NYC hotel, enjoying early morning room service to start his day.

This weekend Travis navigated the chaos of New York City traffic with our cafe trailer in tow, for what was my insane dream to do a pop-up in the city. And he did so beautifully and safely.

To say that my dreams and wild pursuits in life have kept this man *stressed* and on his toes for the 20+ years we have been together is an understatement. And while we may butt heads, in the end he doesn’t say no and supports me and uplifts me.

An amazing father, and those who are lucky enough to call him friend know he’s a treasured one. A talented artist and creator. And we love him to pieces.

Happy birthday, my beautiful Travis. May life give you all you deserve and all your dreams, even if peace while being married to a crazy dreamer like me isn’t one of them. 🤣🤭 I love you.

Bucket list coffee shop: @mercurycoffeeco 🤎 Fr Bucket list coffee shop: @mercurycoffeeco 🤎

From a mobile coffee cart that started in March of 2024 to a brick and mortar that opened in the cool Rochester neighborhood of South Wedge in June 2025, this sweet little shop is serving up cool vibes and delicious coffee.

Was it my third cup of coffee of the morning? Yes. Was it worth it? A million percent.

Go give them some love. 🫶🏾☕️

Two things easily sooth my soul: coffee and books. Two things easily sooth my soul: coffee and books. And this afternoon was for books. Enter this cool bookstore find in Pittsford, NY: @bookculturepittsford. New for me, but this gem has been a part of the Pittsford community since December of 2021, with another location in NYC on 112th and Broadway. (Founded as Labyrinth Books in 1997).

It looks small on the outside, but it’s a massive space taking up two shops, and a garage in the back dedicated to kids’ books and gifts.

Honestly, they have such a diverse collection I am surprised I only walked away with three books. Could have easily done more damage.

Pittsford itself is a pretty area outside of the city of Rochester and a short drive from the same, with tons to do including enjoying a bike ride on the trail along the Erie Canal (or take a cruise!), shopping in cute stores, and dining in quaint locally owned eateries. A very sweet experience.

Add this shop to your book lover’s must see.
