Road trips and the good stuff they are made of

We went on another road trip this weekend. To Colonial Williamsburg, VA. In this post, I just wanted to talk about the road trip itself. Not necessarily about this particular road trip, just about the whole road trip idea and why you should do it. I remember not r[...]

Folklore, History, and Nature’s Beauty at Indian Echo Caverns

We had so much fun in Hershey, PA area that when it was time to leave my 4 year old protested and requested  "one adventure more". Luckily for us an unexpected turn lead us right to Indian Echo Caverns, a limestone cave which took over a million years to create b[...]

Discovery of a Chocolate World in Hershey, PA

The East Coast has been hit with a lot of rain these past few weekends, and this coming weekend will be no exception. However, we have been really fortunate in getting out to enjoy some time during our Road Trip Weekends, at least a day or two with sunshine allowin[...]

Falling in love with Asheville, NC

Before beginning our amazing 2010 Road Trip Adventure, my husband and I had decided that our last stop would be Asheville, NC. I had never been. Almost went last year for a conference, but had to cancel last minute. My husband kept telling my about some amazing att[...]

Exploring Family-Friendly Side of New Orleans, LA

Anytime I have ever asked anyone about New Orleans I have heard about how fun it is. "The jazz clubs!" "The art scene!" "Mardi Gras!!" And after visiting New Orleans on this Summer's road trip, I can say that all of these are definitely a strong part of the city's[...]

Just Like Home at Residence Inn Biltmore, Asheville, NC

Asheville was the last stop on our 2010 Summer road trip and by this time we had pretty much spent our "extravagant restaurant experiences" budget. We could have stressed out a little wondering where all the inexpensive places to eat were in this new town we've nev[...]

Meats and Other Eats in Austin, TX

Aside from all the hanging around and napping we did in our recent trip to Austin, TX we did a lot of eating. A lot. So much eating in fact, that it pretty much set us straight for the rest of the trip...well, almost. But good food is definitely one of those thing[...]

Living it up in Austin, TX Family Style

Ok, well, maybe by "living it up" I don't mean taking part in the awesome music scene in Austin, or going to any of the many great bars, or even shopping. But, if you are like me, an adventurer with kids, than you will manage to live it up the best way you know how[...]

Have you ever been to a shop so pretty and cozy it Have you ever been to a shop so pretty and cozy it makes you emotional? In NYC, @niconeco_zakkaya is up there as a fave for me.

This Japanese-inspired stationary boutique in the East Village gives me all the fuzzy feels and I was sad to hear that after 8 years unharmed, their charming shop sign was vandalized.

They are calling on a creative illustrator who might be interested in bringing a new one to life. Check their Insta for more. And as always, support, shop, and give all the love to small businesses wherever you live and your travels may take you. And next time you are in the East Village, go check them out, and their cafe in Williamsburg, @loafonpaperny (see my reel on them). My 🫶🏾 to this little shop.

We did what one does when the weather is just righ We did what one does when the weather is just right and the sun is shining over Brooklyn 🌞

Rode the ferry a few minutes from Dumbo to Williamsburg for a stroll and some delicious coffee.

Walked through Domino Park and into @birdeenyc, where I just had to taste a few of their delicious pastries and churro latte!

Then strolled over to @loafonpaperny and shopped for some pretty stationary goodies while sipping on their Earl Grey Matcha.

The perfect way to kick off a stunning day in the city!

My list of fave cafes continues to grow, and I am saving them in my “NY Cafes” highlights for those who are following along. ☕️

Healing my soul with people I love while trekking Healing my soul with people I love while trekking through glens in search of an eternal flame. 🔥

This hike, in Chestnut Ridge Park, near Orchard Park, a suburb of Buffalo, NY, is a moderate, 1.5-mile round trip (more or less) that takes you on forest trails, with some stairs, and creek walking; so definitely bring waterproof shoes with grip. This popular spot can get crowded, but if you’re lucky enough to have a solo experience like we did (because of rain), it’s pretty magical.
The most perfect date night in the most perfect li The most perfect date night in the most perfect little bistro in the most perfect New York destination. No, not NYC. The Finger Lakes.

The entire experience at @deanlanedining felt so incredibly elevated and special, and some might even say unexpected, especially from a farmhouse in rural Dundee, NY.

Husband and wife team, Michael and Lisa Dean create a wonderful farm-to-table prix fix menu, beautifully paired with wines selected by Sommelier @danbrezinsky, who, for as long as the moment allows, further complements the first tastings with a sharing of his deep knowledge and passion for the Finger Lakes wines he serves. The individual pairings per course (4) are optional but I do highly recommend as they influenced each dish and in some cases, my opinion of certain wines.

The vibe is intimate and personally, I enjoyed the early seating as I got to admire the sunset through the large dining room windows throughout my time there.

Their highly coveted B&B is fully booked for 2026, but reservations are open for limited seating at the restaurant, with menus changing weekly.

An absolute highlight, and a must during your visit to the Finger Lakes!
