¡Hola!   Hello!   Ciao!   Bonjour!

GirlGoneTravel_Blogger, Photographer, and Traveler of the worldWelcome to Girl Gone Travel®!

Let’s connect on Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook

The goal of this site is to inspire travel, whether with friends, as a couple, or with family.

Thank you to you, our community of readers and friends, for making this catalog of adventures in food and travel all that it is today! We hope you enjoy the travel photography, reading the stories, and browsing through the various sections. But most of all we hope it inspires you to taste, travel, and live life to the fullest.

Working with GirlGoneTravel.com

We are open to professional partnerships and brand ambassadorships for services in exchange for monetary compensation. You can email us at carol[at] girlgonetravel.com to request our media kit and rates.

Carol Cain is available for speaking engagements on topics that include, but are not limited to, public relations and blogging, diversity in media, and best practices when working with brands. She is open to considering freelance writing opportunities if the fit, and the rate, is right. You can see sample of her work at Huffington Post Travel (for which she was fully paid for, as it should be), Expedia Viewfinder, and Forbes Travel Guide, just to name a few.

As much as we appreciate your media alerts and press releases to what’s happening across the industry, we write about our first-hand experiences. Because our readers rely and trust on our feedback and travel advice, we refuse to feature anything that we haven’t tested ourselves.

Sponsored content is limited on our site. We prefer longterm, solid partnerships that extend beyond a paid-for post (though as a result of those more enriching relationships, you might see a couple). We are happy to discuss more authentic, creative ways to highlight a destination, brand, or service beyond the random one-off post. Trust us, if we love you as a brand or destination, we will make sure to let our readers know! So email us to talk out ideas!

Though no one loves giving our readers free stuff more than we do, we have long ago stopped hosting giveaways. We find that they take away from our creative passion and do little to reward the readers who have been here from day one. In other words, we don’t do giveaways.

We are happy to discuss advertising on the site. We don’t do affiliate links and limit banner ads to a minimum as they distract from what readers are here for. But if you really want to work with us and have the budget, we are happy to talk and develop story and campaign ideas!

Lastly, writing is what we do for a living. It is our meal ticket. It pays our bills and it is what we need to run this site. Though we understand that budgets are tight, if at all available, we just can’t afford to work for free, or in exchange for followers, publicity, and/or link backs.

We don’t consider a press trip to be a campaign, unless we are being paid to help run a campaign. In other words, we don’t consider an all-expense-paid press trip to be payment for campaign services, or our positive opinions. We are grateful for any opportunity to be included on a press trip, as it helps us curate content and thus expose our readers to the world. But, our founder has been blogging for almost a decade and her reputation and the reputation of this site is cemented on the credibility of her review and advice, none of which are for sale. However, we have worked on many campaigns in the past and have a few more lined up. All are fully disclosed (please don’t ask us not to) and we won’t commit to the work if it doesn’t meet our professional standards or falls into the category of something we would enjoy being a part of and sharing with our readers.

Regardless of payment, you can count on our professionalism, reliability, and commitment and respect to your time, your brand, and your investment.

We also hate saying no. But we will if you can’t pay for our craft, time, and services. Still would love to work with you though, so please come back when we can discuss further.

We hope to hear from you! Email at carol[at]girlgonetravel[dot]com!

Carol Cain, Founder and Publisher

GirlGoneTravel_Blogger, Photographer, and Traveler of the worldThese are my people and my top priority. My favorite work opportunities include them whenever possible.

Born in Brooklyn, NY to a Dominican-Puerto Rican family, I spent my childhood between NYC and NJ and my adolescence studying and living in the Dominican Republic. After a short period of time spent deciding whether I would become a fashion designer in Italy or an artist in NYC, I chose to return to her former home in The Big Apple where I pursued a career in public relations. I did make it on to the stage having performed a few times in community theaters throughout NYC and singing on Amateur Night at The Apollo Theater, where I was a finalist.

After a few years, a marriage and kids, I left public relations to better enjoy life with my three boys and husband. In the process I managed to incorporate my love for travel into the mix and now live to share my adventures with others.

Formal bio for publications:

In 2008 Carol published NYCityMama.com which shortly after began to receive accolades for Carol’s ability to connect with readers through her stories of adventures, with and without kids in tow. Almost 4 years later, Girl Gone Travel® is the “grown up” version of her original site, where she continues to share her travel adventures far beyond New York City, though you can always expect to read about her beloved city here too.

Her passion for travel is often contagious, having earned her awards and recognition from her peers and others in the media and travel industry. She has shared her travel tips and stories in various online and print outlets, including American Airlines, Matador Network, New York Family Magazine, and Good Housekeeping, just to name a few. Her travel photography has been featured in publications as far as OK! Magazine in Germany.

Aside from her work as a travel and food blogger for her own site, Carol often works as a spokesperson and ambassador for brands and destinations, as well as a freelance blogger.

Carol has a BA in Communications from Queens College, NY and an MBA in International Relations. She is multilingual, with a fluency in English and Spanish and a basic knowledge of Italian and French.

She is a tomboy who prefers dogs over cats, loves photography, karaoke, and social media. She is known to laugh out loud often, enjoy the outdoors, and cooking for family and friends.

Stephanie Klose, Writer

The travel bug first bit me when I was 12 years old. I traveled across the world to Australia for 10 days with a student ambassador program. It was my first time being away from my family and friends, and in a word, it was thrilling. At such a young age my eyes were open to the wonder of travel and I haven’t looked back since.

 Steph Klose, GirlGoneTravel.com

When I’m not snuggling with my pups in my closet-sized New York apartment I enjoy taking trips near and far. I’ve studied art history in Florence, shredded the Alps in Switzerland, beach bummed in Greece, drank proper tea in London, and fell in love with Paris. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for a little adventure.
