It was a gorgeous spring day in NYC so I decided to take a stroll in the small, but lovely Bryant Park. When I worked in the area years ago this was the place I liked coming to to de-stress during my lunch hour or after work on warm nights. The park, surrounded by tall trees and with a flush green lawn right in the middle, is not only the place for such mid-day relaxation, it also home to the NYC Fashion Show each year, the fabulously trendy Bryant Park Cafe, and the backyard of the historical Stephen A. Schwarzman NYC Public Library building.
Though we were there pretty early in the morning, too early to even be able to ride Le Carrousel, we enjoyed sitting on the green chairs and taking in some of the fantastic weather. We enjoyed some of the activities being hosted by Poem in Your Pocket, a month long series of poetry reading and related events that they regularly host there every year.
This park is one of those hidden oasis one comes across in a city. After relaxing for a bit in the park, we decided to head over to Times Square. We decided to visit the massive Toys R’ Us there (now closed). The boys had been behaving so nicely that I thought they deserved a little gift in return.
Every once in awhile we do as tourists do.
It was that sort of day, full of strolls and resting at favorite stops, all while taking in the beauty of spring in their beloved city.

Is it odd that I have never seen a Bryant Park without the white tents of fashion week as splattered across my tv screen? Thanks for sharing, and what a great pictorial accompanying ur family outing description!

I love bryant park! esp when the first warm weather breaks and everyone crowds the park on their lunch breaks to catch the sun…better yet, most of them end up ditching work and hitting up early happy hour (not that i know from experience or anything) LOL. Great post!
