When I didn’t live in New York City, for one reason or another, I always missed being home for the holidays and the one thing I missed the most about not being home for the holidays was being able to enjoy the amazing window displays.
Some of the most famous stores in New York City have unveiled their holiday windows, showcasing not only their selected holiday products, but telling us a story, captivating us with glitter, holiday music, and lots and lots of lights.
My girlfriend Issa, from SingleMamaNYC.com ventured out into the cold night with me to enjoy it while most of the city was warm at home or getting ready for a busy work week ahead. Kisses to my fellow NYC-loving friend for withstanding the cold, but also for being as excited and as in love with this city as I am, thus feeding my heart with joy.
Not included here are the fabulous Macy’s windows and the ones along Fifth Avenue, including Saks, Henri Bendel, Juicy Couture, Cartier, Tiffany’s, and Bloomingdales. The lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will take place on November 30, 2010 and it’s also worth hanging around a little longer in front of Saks to watch their annual musical hologram display off of their building façade. Another fun event to not be missed is Lincoln Center’s Winter’s Eve on November 29th, which also promises fun for the entire family!
In addition to the windows, I’ve included a short video from the Holiday Stars at Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle (59th St.). They are quite a sight any time of day, but most especially at night, and the music combined with the lights and colors, makes the whole scene magical. Kids would love this! While there, check out the Salvador Dali “The Visions of a Genius“ exhibit, which will be on display till April 2011.
