In this post I am probably not going to say anything that you haven’t already heard others say about Disney – how it’s filled with fun for the whole family; how it has this incredible ability to create experiences that feel magical in nature and are wonderful in that they stay with us forever. You probably have heard how it’s the place where families come to spend time together, to reconnect. To get away from the world, together.
There really isn’t much I can say about Disney that you haven’t already heard.
But yet, as I see my children’s faces, hear the excitement in their voices as they recount their day to me, seeing their eyes light up, their smiles take over, it’s hard to not feel this emotion of joy as if it was the only joy that has ever existed, as if I am the only one that has ever felt it through my children and for them.
It may be that the hundreds of thousands of families that travel to Disney every year have seen and felt what I have in the past couple of days in watching my children’s joy. As a matter of fact, I remember what it felt like for me coming here as a child for the first time. But some how it doesn’t seem to matter – for us, right now, this moment, this joy, is as exciting and as overwhelmingly beautiful as if it has never happened to anyone, anywhere, before. It feels this way because I see it happening through my babies.
There’s nothing new I can say about the joys that Disney brings to so many that visit here. But though it may seem old news to you, or me, to the people that matter the most – my children and all the children that visit here – it is all exciting and new. And no matter what I know about Disney, or about being here, or what it tends to do – because of my children I get to feel it all over again just as I did the very first time.
What a gift for my family. What a moment to treasure.
And the truth remains, no other place is better at creating these emotions and memories than Disney.
There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to continue to grow the business of Disney. But the magic of Disney? Well, it’s different for everyone.
For me, it’s the stuff that little boy giggles, sparkling green eyes full of excitement and the joy from big Goofy bear hugs are made of.
