Family Hike along the Delaware Water Gap

As I take on this homeschooling journey with my kids, I am slowly starting to step away from the computer and getting to what we enjoy the most, which is learning through experiences and travel. What I am loving so far, besides my boys' enthusiasm and ability to go[...]

Overcoming the Unexpected in Travel

There are so many lessons I try to teach my boys when we travel. Some have to do with travel itself (always carry the essentials with you; stick to drinking water on flying days, and don't ever be afraid to ask for directions or help). Others have more to do with p[...]

Falling in love with Glacier National Park

Before I made my way to Glacier National Park, the oooh's and ahhh's and expressed envy from those whom I told about my travels made it clear that I was in for a treat. Since first setting foot in a national park in 2009, I have yet to find one I didn't love. B[...]

Nature finds for weekend fun in New Jersey

This is one of the first years we have been home all summer. We have loved it though at first it was hard. For my kids the start was bumpy because they suddenly found themselves with not much to do (I also didn't sign them up for all-summer camp!) and most of t[...]

A Visit to Acadia National Park

The National Parks are in a constant threat of abolishment, now more than ever. I can't imagine, even as someone who discovered her love for them so much later in her life, what I would do without their healing power, their ability to make me feel whole and connec[...]

My Kids’ First Trip to the Dominican Republic: Heritage, Race, and Breaking the Cycle

We were on a bus on our way to do some volunteer work with other travelers from the Fathom cruise. Our project leader, a local employed by the organization heading the activity, was pointing out highlights of Sosua, the beach town we were entering and where we woul[...]

Cruising with Fathom Travel & Volunteering in the Dominican Republic

It's taking me a bit to share my experiences while cruising to and volunteering in the Dominican Republic with Fathom Travel because it was such an overwhelming experience on so many levels. First, it was the very first time my youngest boys had visited the country[...]

Highlights of Dijon, France

It was a beautiful summer day when I arrived to Dijon, France. I quickly dropped off my bags in my hotel room at the trendy, Michelin rated Le Chapeau Rouge, slipped into some comfortable walking shoes and headed out. I hadn't been to this beautiful city in two yea[...]

Two beautiful days at Lake Como, Italy

One of the highlights of our road trip through northern Italy was our stay in Lake Como. Most of our stops were in the Lombardy region, where there are lakes galore. Lake Como, the third largest lake in Italy and one of the deepest, is heavily visited by local[...]

The Best of Steamboat, CO Summers – A Photo Tour

I have enjoyed visiting Colorado in the winter in the past but it is no secret that summers are my favorite and when it comes to finding fun things to do, Steamboat Springs delivers. And the word is out. It used to be that the energy of the town and even that of[...]

Taking in the sunset by the lake. We enjoy coming Taking in the sunset by the lake. We enjoy coming to the lake much later in the day when most people have left, and when we get to take a dip after a long, hot day to reset and relax.

Almost 4 years since we moved to the Finger Lakes and I still can’t believe this is my lucky life. ❤️

Thank you Toronto for the fun! This NYC girlie e Thank you Toronto for the fun!

This NYC girlie enjoyed experiencing a different city, and finally making it to this one especially.

I felt no pressure to check a bunch of things off “for the ‘gram” so enjoyed slowly touring around and spending time in areas I enjoyed the most.

For those who have never been, like any city in the summer, it can be unpleasant on terribly hot days, and super crowded in touristy spots, but there are beaches and museums to escape to! People also seem generally friendlier.

Toronto is really spread out so getting around can take awhile because of traffic, and public transport can get crowded at certain times. Best bet are the commuter bikes or walking - which we did tons of, especially in search of good coffee. There is a lot of good food but depending on where you are, you’ll have to travel a ways for it.

In general, I found it to be an interesting city, with a vibrant and strong immigrant community, which I loved, and am excited to return and see more someday soon!

Checking out a new city for us! These are scenes f Checking out a new city for us! These are scenes from our first night in town.

In all my years as a travel blogger the one place that seemed logical for me to visit cause of proximity and accesss was Toronto. But I never did. Till now.

We’re staying in the city, in a home swap through (but not sponsored by) @livekindred and we’re excited to explore this city with the boys, one last trip before college, and see what I’ve been missing!
