Loving Olympic National Park

While I was in the West Coast, and exactly after I had left Seattle and driven past the signs to Olympic National Park due to lack of time, I received the news that myself and fellow travel bloggers, Chelle and Crystal (of BrownGirlsFly) and Ana (of TravelingLatina) had been selected as after we submitted an application to join the American Latino Heritage Fund and the National Park Servic[...]

Happy Days at The One Happy Island of Aruba

Before I made it out to Aruba, I had heard so many great things from those who have visited often. As a matter of fact, it seems that those who spoke about their visits always returned. Since my first visit, I have been planning my return to the one happy island with its clear skies, turquoise beaches, friendly people, and white sands. If you haven't been to Aruba yet, there are so many r[...]

A Sunny Day in Portland, OR

Of all the cities we had planned during our road trip, Portland, OR was one that I was most excited about. I had never been, but envisioned cool, hip city surrounded by the lush, green environment of Oregon state. I have to confess, some of my excitement was further enhanced by one of my favorite TV shows, Portlandia, and I hoped that it would be all the quirky awesome of the show.read mor[...]

Two Days in Seattle, WA

The first stop on our summer road trip adventure was Seattle, WA. We only had two days and we meant to make the most of our time in this fun city. We set ourselves up at the Residence Inn by Marriott Lake Union, quite possibly one of the largest Residence Inn I’ve ever stayed in. It was also convenient, located across the street from the marina of Lake Union; a great spot to grab a drin[...]

Two NJ Beaches, Two NJ Experiences: From Belmar to Atlantic City

This travel post is part of a host agreement. A couple of weekends ago I headed out to join a group of fellow bloggers to give New Jersey beaches a shout out. Weather-wise it wasn't the best weekend. We've been experiencing lots of rain lately, and though I was hoping for some serious beach time, Mother Nature had her own plans. Nevertheless, I joined the group, made up of bloggers who[...]

Eating Your Way Through Richmond, VA

"Why are you going to Richmond?" I got asked this question so many more times than I care to remember before taking the hour and a half flight from Newark into Virginia's capital. Why. Mainly because I have learned that often times some of the best experiences can be found in the places you least expect to find them, and because I love to eat! I kind of expected to taste some pretty y[...]

A Walk Through History at Duke Farms, NJ

Oh, New Jersey. You never cease to amaze me. We've enjoyed finding more and more ways to spend time outdoors, in nature. But most of all, we've been able to enjoy it all at minimal cost, if not free. We've such enjoyed these awesome finds that when we aren't traveling or running around doing errands, we delight in the opportunity to discover something new. This past weekend was no excepti[...]

Eating & Hiking in Austin, TX

It seems that my visits to Austin, TX are destined to be filled with days of food coma close encounters. It's not my fault,  Austin is just that kind of town. I mean, yes, its got that whole hipster, artsy, music thing going for it, but the food. Oh, the food. It's just so, so good. Unlike my first visit to Austin a few years ago, when we dared to venture to this city in the middle of su[...]

Signs of autumn 🍂 in the Finger Lakes. Signs of autumn 🍂 in the Finger Lakes.

We are celebrating @travisjcain today on his birth We are celebrating @travisjcain today on his birthday but also for all he does for me and our sweet little family. Here we are in a lux NYC hotel, enjoying early morning room service to start his day.

This weekend Travis navigated the chaos of New York City traffic with our cafe trailer in tow, for what was my insane dream to do a pop-up in the city. And he did so beautifully and safely.

To say that my dreams and wild pursuits in life have kept this man *stressed* and on his toes for the 20+ years we have been together is an understatement. And while we may butt heads, in the end he doesn’t say no and supports me and uplifts me.

An amazing father, and those who are lucky enough to call him friend know he’s a treasured one. A talented artist and creator. And we love him to pieces.

Happy birthday, my beautiful Travis. May life give you all you deserve and all your dreams, even if peace while being married to a crazy dreamer like me isn’t one of them. 🤣🤭 I love you.

Bucket list coffee shop: @mercurycoffeeco 🤎 Fr Bucket list coffee shop: @mercurycoffeeco 🤎

From a mobile coffee cart that started in March of 2024 to a brick and mortar that opened in the cool Rochester neighborhood of South Wedge in June 2025, this sweet little shop is serving up cool vibes and delicious coffee.

Was it my third cup of coffee of the morning? Yes. Was it worth it? A million percent.

Go give them some love. 🫶🏾☕️

Two things easily sooth my soul: coffee and books. Two things easily sooth my soul: coffee and books. And this afternoon was for books. Enter this cool bookstore find in Pittsford, NY: @bookculturepittsford. New for me, but this gem has been a part of the Pittsford community since December of 2021, with another location in NYC on 112th and Broadway. (Founded as Labyrinth Books in 1997).

It looks small on the outside, but it’s a massive space taking up two shops, and a garage in the back dedicated to kids’ books and gifts.

Honestly, they have such a diverse collection I am surprised I only walked away with three books. Could have easily done more damage.

Pittsford itself is a pretty area outside of the city of Rochester and a short drive from the same, with tons to do including enjoying a bike ride on the trail along the Erie Canal (or take a cruise!), shopping in cute stores, and dining in quaint locally owned eateries. A very sweet experience.

Add this shop to your book lover’s must see.
