Holidays in Edinburgh, Scotland

It had been so long since my last visit to Scotland, and since then I couldn't wait to return. 10 years, an upcoming birthday, and a few airline mileage points to make use of and here I was, even if just for a week. I did not have nearly enough days to enjoy every[...]

24 hours in Milan, Italy

Milan was the very first Italian city I visited 28 years ago. I had visited the country for the Christmas and New Year holidays. I remember how cold it was and often even gray, but I also remember being incredibly impressed by the stylish people, many of whom remin[...]

Highlights of Dijon, France

It was a beautiful summer day when I arrived to Dijon, France. I quickly dropped off my bags in my hotel room at the trendy, Michelin rated Le Chapeau Rouge, slipped into some comfortable walking shoes and headed out. I hadn't been to this beautiful city in two yea[...]

Two beautiful days at Lake Como, Italy

One of the highlights of our road trip through northern Italy was our stay in Lake Como. Most of our stops were in the Lombardy region, where there are lakes galore. Lake Como, the third largest lake in Italy and one of the deepest, is heavily visited by local[...]

Highlights of Mâcon, France

One of the things that I have loved in visiting France over the years is that no two cities are ever completely alike. Sure, there is the architecture and food and of course language, but even these are influenced by elements unique to its historical past and regio[...]

The Best of Venice, Italy’s Floating City

The first time I went to Venice was in the middle of summer and it was awful. The humidity was debilitating, the heat at the turn at every corner seemed like a punch in the stomach. Though I appreciated its uniqueness, and enjoyed being there with my son, I did[...]

A day in The City of Love, Verona, Italy

Two hours from Milan and Venice, and only a little more than an hour from Brescia, where we were staying, is the city of Verona, best known for being the home of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Juliet's House will be the place you will want to visit first upon a[...]

Listen, I have a few more things I want to enjoy, Listen, I have a few more things I want to enjoy, see, and do before summers’ end but as of today there are 56 days till fall and the signs are already here…as seen from the apples that have fallen from our trees.

So if you are hesitating to take that road trip, jump in that lake, camp in those woods, gather outside with friends for a little grilling and fun in the sun, this is your cue to get to it. Time waits for no one. And there’s so much life to live. So, get to it!

See you out there.
Add this spot to your next visit to Naples, NY. 📍@plenty_the_diner is one of those spots that you know is going to be yummy the second you walk in. This airy, modern diner brings all the made-from-scratch goodness we locals have grown to love from their sister bakery, the OG, @plenty_the_bakery in South Bristol, NY, both owned by Brendan and Michelle Halloran.

The blueberry pancakes I shared with hubby were a favorite for me, especially with the in-season blueberries on top. And the Plenty Bowl wasn’t much a “bowl” per say but it was the perfect diner breakfast combo of home fries topped with melted cheese curds (Zomg 😋), your choice of eggs and breakfast meats. There are sandwiches and salads to choose from as well if you are leaning more towards lunch, and of course, freshly baked pastries. No espresso drinks but another highlight for me was their cold brew - which surpassed any “diner coffee” I’ve ever had.

There might be a short wait but on a nice day you can wait at one of the picnic tables located in the park right next to the diner.

Wonderful staff, lovely vibe, and a perfect start to your day exploring sweet Naples.

24 hours of Josie 🐾 have been such a joy as she 24 hours of Josie 🐾 have been such a joy as she has already proven to be every bit of the cuddly, playful, curious, gentle doggie we knew she would be. Will she be put outside to guard livestock? No. She is far more likely to be on the couch getting belly rubs and watching TV with us, or going for long walks in the park or around our country cottage, or falling asleep in her cushy bed.
I’d like to introduce you to the newest member o I’d like to introduce you to the newest member of our family: Josie 🐾 She is a 2 year old Great Pyrenees mix - yes, I know, completely opposite from our previous fur babies. She loves cuddles and scratches, walks, and kisses. She also seemingly loves #Survivalofthethickest and her new bed.

We are teaching her to do more than just sit on command, and have yet to hear her bark, though based on her in-take form at the shelter, she will at the mailman.

Thank you to everyone at @schuylercountyhumane for connecting us with this sweet angel. We are going to shower her with all the love. 💕 Support your local humane society.
