Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Park Slope

St. Patrick's Day isn't for another couple of days, but already the sights of green and the festivities surrounding the Holiday began about a week ago in most places. NYC was just starting to really come alive with it all, with Staten Island and Queens being two of[...]

Sunny Day at Cathedral St. John The Divine

Today was one of those NYC days where I just felt happy. It was sunny, a bit chilly, but not too much, and full of possibilities.  Well, everyday is full of possibilities, but sunny days just make the list seem more endless.read more[...]

Typical Day in The Heights, NYC

This has probably been what most people would call a typical day. Nothing extravagant, no special excursions to report.  But for someone like me, every single moment, taste, smell, and sound is significant. To many I am a pretty happy person, not too difficult to[...]

Weekend Morning at Union Square Greenmarket, NY

Yay!  Not only was this a sunny Saturday, but one of the warmest Saturdays in NYC in a while. We had gotten up early to make our way downtown to Union Square and browse and shop at the local Greenmarket. I fell in love with farmers markets while living in Madison[...]

Afternoon at the Playground for All Children

Some times even the best laid out plans just never seem to come to fruition, no matter how hard you try. But then there are other times when the failure in those plans lead to little surprises that make for the best adventures. On this particular Saturday, the p[...]

Afternoon at the Staten Island Children’s Museum

The boys and I waited for the bus to the Staten Island Children's Museum. The last time I tried to do this was ages ago with 11-year-old, (then only 5) and my husband. We stood on a similar platform, not sure what bus to ride. Unsure of what bus to take, and not ge[...]

Sights and Fun on the Staten Island Ferry Ride

New York City is starting to show signs of Spring. There are moments when it still gets cold and the wind can be chilly, but lately there are more days when the sun shines so brightly, so warm, and when the temperatures are high and the air smells like a new season[...]

Fun Day at Brooklyn Children’s Museum

President's Day in New York City.  To some this was a day when most parents were off from work to care for their children who were beginning a week long mid-winter break from school. Aside from my husband being home from work, I saw this as another day, another o[...]

Free Day at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan

Living in New York City is a wonderful experience. Being able to raise kids here and making it all it has to offer accessible to one's children is also a wonderful experience. Though I appreciate this, I am well aware of how expensive it can be take part in all[...]

Liberty Science Center, Jersey City, NJ

Another cold morning in The Big Apple.  NYCity Mama reads the temperature from her iPhone.  18 degrees. "Ah. Ok, well, at least we're going to be inside today," she says to herself.  She loves weekends and that's mostly because her husband is home, which means[...]

Hubby and I recently had a lovely brunch experienc Hubby and I recently had a lovely brunch experience near our beautiful home in Finger Lakes Wine Country.

We headed to @burntrosewinebar, on Main St. in Penn Yan NY.

I absolutely love the aesthetics and vibes of this restaurant, owned by Rose Curry, a sommelier, and her husband, Chet Thompson, a classically-trained chef.

Their field-to-table, seasonal menu is elevated, eclectic, sophisticated, but also approachable and delicious. It celebrates the cultural flavors of Rose’s Mexican roots and features Chet’s culinary talent beautifully.

If on the menu, you absolutely must try their Mole dusted burrata topped with toasted pepitas & pumpkin seed oil, and Chef’s Jammy Egg, which is a cured egg served sun-dried tomato and their house-made basil pesto.

They have a wine list featuring the best of the Finger Lakes, though my absolute obsession is their spiced apple and caramel Mimosa!

The entire experience is addicting…and if you can’t get enough, they also co-own the @the18thamendment.py right next door on Main St., another example of the growing food scene in the Finger Lakes!

Reservations are highly recommended.

Hubby took this photo of me, and I kinda love it, Hubby took this photo of me, and I kinda love it, though photos or videos of me are not really my favorite.

I like that it shows me genuinely happy in this moment. I like that it shows how far I’ve come in life….in years.

And thinking of what I have already accomplished, in the years I have lived so far, makes whatever were wasted moments feel smaller over time. And that feels lucky.

I spend so much time capturing the joy of others and feel loved to have someone capture a moment in joy of me. Thanks, @travisjcain, for seeing me with so much love.
Let’s be real: Halloween Season comes and goes t Let’s be real: Halloween Season comes and goes too fast, so if you missed it, I wanted to share this fun Halloween experience to add to your bucket list for next year: the @Naumkeag Pumpkin Show, in the Berkshires’ Stockbridge, MA.

🎃 Book your tix and time slot online (later times are the most popular).
🎃 Park at a designated spot in Downtown Stockbridge and take a short bus ride to Naumkeag, a 44-room Gilded Age “cottage” with 8 acres of awe-inspiring natural beauty, including public gardens.
🎃 Tour the gardens, and through some indoor space to view over 1500 mums, carved displays, and more!
🎃 This is a family-friendly experience, and accessibility is limited, including for strollers and wheelchairs.
🎃 On non-events occasions and depending on weather, the property is available for pre-booked tours.
🎃 Missed Halloween? Book a tour of their Winter Lights holiday displays which kicks off end of November!
