Universal Studios and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

This year has been a fun because I have been able to visit one of my favorite places in Orlando, Fl, not once, but twice! Universal Studios is by far my favorite theme park. Nothing against Disney, I see many visits to that famous destination in my future when my k[...]

Experiencing A Piece of Multicultural Orlando: The ViMi District

One of the areas that I was most excited to visit during our tour of the Orlando culinary scene was Orlando's Vimi district. The name ViMi comes from the two main streets, Virginia and Mills, that intersect there. Located in the northeast of downtown Orlando, the d[...]

Hotel Giraffe: Catering to Couples, But Also To Kids in Tow

We love checking out NYC hotels. Some times we go at it solo for date nights, other times we go with our kids in tow. During our recent visit to Hotel Giraffe we chose to take our kids. For those familiar with the hotel, traveling there with kids isn't often the fi[...]

Pop Burger: A Quick Burger Fix

While taking in NYC at night during our recent Hotel Elysee stay, we decided to pop in at Pop Burger for a quick bite. The place at 7:30pm on a Friday night was completely empty downstairs (street level). This is because the places that are really "happening" are t[...]

Falling in love with Asheville, NC

Before beginning our amazing 2010 Road Trip Adventure, my husband and I had decided that our last stop would be Asheville, NC. I had never been. Almost went last year for a conference, but had to cancel last minute. My husband kept telling my about some amazing att[...]

Gator, Gumbo, Crawfish, and Beignets…Eating Good in New Orleans

Ah, New Orleans. I still remember the excitement with which I visited and New Orleans didn't disappoint. In fact, it exceeded expectations. One of the things we enjoyed the most was the food. Oh the glorious food. I had a list of things to taste and hit the ground[...]

Exploring Family-Friendly Side of New Orleans, LA

Anytime I have ever asked anyone about New Orleans I have heard about how fun it is. "The jazz clubs!" "The art scene!" "Mardi Gras!!" And after visiting New Orleans on this Summer's road trip, I can say that all of these are definitely a strong part of the city's[...]

Just Like Home at Residence Inn Biltmore, Asheville, NC

Asheville was the last stop on our 2010 Summer road trip and by this time we had pretty much spent our "extravagant restaurant experiences" budget. We could have stressed out a little wondering where all the inexpensive places to eat were in this new town we've nev[...]

Bliss at Le Richelieu, French Quarter, New Orleans

I was very excited about traveling to New Orleans, but never having been there before made it difficult to determine where to stay. Lucky for us we had the help of the New Orleans Conventions and Visitors Bureau and they partnered us up* with Le Richelieu, a lovely[...]

Meats and Other Eats in Austin, TX

Aside from all the hanging around and napping we did in our recent trip to Austin, TX we did a lot of eating. A lot. So much eating in fact, that it pretty much set us straight for the rest of the trip...well, almost. But good food is definitely one of those thing[...]

Signs of autumn 🍂 in the Finger Lakes. Signs of autumn 🍂 in the Finger Lakes.
A wonderful weekend was had. We worked hard, but t A wonderful weekend was had. We worked hard, but then we rested even harder. We celebrated a successful cafe pop-up and a birthday in the city we love with people we love even more. Feels lucky, and we are grateful.

We are celebrating @travisjcain today on his birth We are celebrating @travisjcain today on his birthday but also for all he does for me and our sweet little family. Here we are in a lux NYC hotel, enjoying early morning room service to start his day.

This weekend Travis navigated the chaos of New York City traffic with our cafe trailer in tow, for what was my insane dream to do a pop-up in the city. And he did so beautifully and safely.

To say that my dreams and wild pursuits in life have kept this man *stressed* and on his toes for the 20+ years we have been together is an understatement. And while we may butt heads, in the end he doesn’t say no and supports me and uplifts me.

An amazing father, and those who are lucky enough to call him friend know he’s a treasured one. A talented artist and creator. And we love him to pieces.

Happy birthday, my beautiful Travis. May life give you all you deserve and all your dreams, even if peace while being married to a crazy dreamer like me isn’t one of them. 🤣🤭 I love you.

Bucket list coffee shop: @mercurycoffeeco 🤎 Fr Bucket list coffee shop: @mercurycoffeeco 🤎

From a mobile coffee cart that started in March of 2024 to a brick and mortar that opened in the cool Rochester neighborhood of South Wedge in June 2025, this sweet little shop is serving up cool vibes and delicious coffee.

Was it my third cup of coffee of the morning? Yes. Was it worth it? A million percent.

Go give them some love. 🫶🏾☕️

Two things easily sooth my soul: coffee and books. Two things easily sooth my soul: coffee and books. And this afternoon was for books. Enter this cool bookstore find in Pittsford, NY: @bookculturepittsford. New for me, but this gem has been a part of the Pittsford community since December of 2021, with another location in NYC on 112th and Broadway. (Founded as Labyrinth Books in 1997).

It looks small on the outside, but it’s a massive space taking up two shops, and a garage in the back dedicated to kids’ books and gifts.

Honestly, they have such a diverse collection I am surprised I only walked away with three books. Could have easily done more damage.

Pittsford itself is a pretty area outside of the city of Rochester and a short drive from the same, with tons to do including enjoying a bike ride on the trail along the Erie Canal (or take a cruise!), shopping in cute stores, and dining in quaint locally owned eateries. A very sweet experience.

Add this shop to your book lover’s must see.
