Bliss at Le Richelieu, French Quarter, New Orleans

I was very excited about traveling to New Orleans, but never having been there before made it difficult to determine where to stay. Lucky for us we had the help of the New Orleans Conventions and Visitors Bureau and they partnered us up* with Le Richelieu, a lovely hotel in the beautiful French Quarter.

Located on Chartres St., Le Richelieu fits the feel of New Orleans in both charm and history. Built between1845 and 1902, this hotel has gone through several renovations without letting go of those things that help its guest feel connected to the city.

Although it is located in the French Quarter, which allows for an easy  walk to all the favorite tourist spots and restaurants, it is far enough from that same so that your stay isn’t noisy. We enjoyed quiet nights and peaceful mornings. I loved opening the french doors to our balcony when waking up and letting the breeze of the morning enter our suite as we slowly prepared for our day.

Our rooms had a refrigerator, sink, and stove as well as a balcony. We loved spending time in the small outdoor pool which was adjacent to their café and bar. Their cafe serves breakfast and lunch till 2:00pm, however we also enjoyed the small, low key cafes located just a block away.

The hotel is reasonably priced ($95 to $180 for rooms and $225 for larger suites). Parking is included and there is free Wifi.

The staff was lovely at every point of our stay, from the concierge to the housekeeper. I felt welcomed with my children. The place had an air of tranquility so much so that it affected my rambunctious boys from the moment they walked in calming and quieting them down.

What’s best is that Le Richelieu is locally owned and operated. It also serves as it’s the owner’s home which explains a lot of the attention to detail and service.

It’s ideal for couples looking for a quiet, romantic stay, as well as traveling families looking for quality and comfort at a reasonable price. We loved New Orleans and feel that our stay at Le Richelieu really complimented our visit.

Are you a MacKenzie-Childs fan? I only heard about Are you a MacKenzie-Childs fan? I only heard about @mackenziechilds after moving to the Finger Lakes, as did my husband. But my MIL is very well-versed in all things MC and is a massive fan. We were so pleased to have learned that her visit coincided with their Artisan Crafts Festival (going on through today, Oct 1, 2023), featuring regional artisans and craft makers, as well as tons of discounted MC items! We thought for sure this would be fun FOR HER and that was the goal. Little did WE ALL expect - including the teens - to enjoy it so much and get caught up in the excitement of finding items we also wanted (the pumpkins and Xmas decor were a huge hit)! Plus the festival has several delicious food trucks and beautiful grounds to explore, as well as this whimsical farmhouse to tour - seen here.

So we walked away with several goodies (not just for grandma) and a lesson on not making assumptions because we actually really loved it. In the end, it was such a fun day and we all agreed we would return, even without grandma in tow!

The lakes are a bit colder but still so beautiful, our favorite wineries are busy harvesting grapes (thanks to our friends at @wagnervineyards for taking me along for the ride!), and there is so much abundance from our local farmers to enjoy!

Here’s a glimpse of life in wine country! 🍁🍂🍎🍏🎃

The runners at this weekend’s @wgmarathon might get to enjoy a glimpse of it as they start their race (I will be up early to cheer my girl @thereshegoesagn on! 🙌🏾). But even if you don’t get up early enough to enjoy this sight, the fall colors are here to take your breath away too. 🍁🍂
