Free Day at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan

Living in New York City is a wonderful experience. Being able to raise kids here and making it all it has to offer accessible to one’s children is also a wonderful experience. Though I appreciate this, I am well aware of how expensive it can be take part in all these activities with the kids in The Big Apple.

Luckily, there are still a few things throughout the city free of charge.

One such place is the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. Every first Friday of the month they offer free admission to all from 5:00PM to 8:00PM.

I started getting the kids ready for the trip, scheduling it so that we would be there at least an hour. My husband was going to meet us there after work.

The train ride to the Upper West Side was a good one. It was right during rush hour, which made the trains crowded but reliable and speedy.

The evening was wonderful (a sign of the weekend to come), not too cold, with clear skies. The boys were very excited.

We arrived to the museum and my husband was already there waiting. Entry to the museum was free and there was a large group of people waiting. After a short stop at coat check the kids immediately ran towards the larger Trojan Horse on the first floor, part of the Gods, Myths & Mortals. The boys climbed into the horse and slid, jumped, crawled and climbed their way around, laughing the entire time.

The boys took some time to check out the interactive and kid-friendly displays throughout, running around to each one, stopping to admire and press buttons along the way.

Not too far off, they had a play area where most kids were playing and parents resting. This floor was very crowded, as can be expected on “free day”,and though I felt a little hot, my sons were having best time running and playing around.

It was funny to watch the closing time scene. Babies and toddlers, left and right, exhausted from so much play, overwhelmed from all that there was to see and resisting to leave, were crying, whining, and just being kids. Thus, when my own kids started doing the same, we just joined the corner of other parents with crying kids, while they put on their coats to head back out.

A little food helped to make it better.

(By the way, that is NOT soda the kids are drinking!!)

After filling their tummies and tempers cooled, we started making our way home, happier, sleepier, and thrilled that the trip had been so full of fun and laughter.

The most perfect date night in the most perfect li The most perfect date night in the most perfect little bistro in the most perfect New York destination. No, not NYC. The Finger Lakes.

The entire experience at @deanlanedining felt so incredibly elevated and special, and some might even say unexpected, especially from a farmhouse in rural Dundee, NY.

Husband and wife team, Michael and Lisa Dean create a wonderful farm-to-table prix fix menu, beautifully paired with wines selected by Sommelier @danbrezinsky, who, for as long as the moment allows, further complements the first tastings with a sharing of his deep knowledge and passion for the Finger Lakes wines he serves. The individual pairings per course (4) are optional but I do highly recommend as they influenced each dish and in some cases, my opinion of certain wines.

The vibe is intimate and personally, I enjoyed the early seating as I got to admire the sunset through the large dining room windows throughout my time there.

Their highly coveted B&B is fully booked for 2026, but reservations are open for limited seating at the restaurant, with menus changing weekly.

An absolute highlight, and a must during your visit to the Finger Lakes!

One of the dreamiest of views for me, that I don’t think I will ever tire of, is mist over the hills and lakes. And rainy seasons like these are perfect for such moments.

After an eventful evening (and thank you all for the love and congratulatory messages🤎), I am eager to spend this rainy day back at my computer getting work done.

It’s a wonderful thing to be immersed in a region you love, and to often be tasked to share its stories with others, it’s a whole other thing when regional representatives not only notice it, but reward you for it.

To listen to others get on stage and talk about that work with such admiration and awe still feels surreal and beyond flattering. It’s overwhelming. And I am grateful beyond words, and excited to continue to do the best that I can for as long as I am welcomed and given the opportunity to do so.

So whether it is for work (@braveworldmedia) or on this page, I am happy to share the stories and many reasons why we, along with so many others, decided to make this our home. ❤️

Thanks for the support and for following along.

The coffee? Amazing of course, but Scale House brew also delish, and I was really impressed with their pizza. So if ya know, ya know. If you don’t, get over there stat. I heard it’s pretty busy during the summer months!

And make sure to stop into Overlook Coffee too. They are 😘👌🏾.
