Must-Try Pizza Joints in NYC, Kids Welcomed

The other “local dish” of New York City, the pizza, has a few places where adults and kids can enjoy a good slice, without the lines and with all the simplicity and basics of what makes a New York City pizza a must try when visiting.

Two Boots Pizza – If staying at the Grand Hyatt New York, then you have easy access to fabulous Grand Central Station, which happens to house my kids’ absolute favorite pizza spot (in the lower level food court). The pizza here is fresh and delicious, the service is great, and the prices are not too bad, especially for the amount of food you get. Choose from unique flavor combos like the Tony Clifton (wild mushrooms, sweet red pepper pesto, Vidalia onions, mozzarella) and The Dude (tasso, ground beef, cheddar & mozzarella). Lower dining concourse, Grand Central Station

Patsy’s Pizzeria – Another family favorite, located in East Harlem. Their brick-oven carefully cooks each pie to perfection, locking in the freshness of the ingredients and honoring the Italian pizza maker’s traditions for over 70 years. Definitely worth the trip! 2287 1st Ave

Lombardi’s Pizza – A true Italian joint, where you are made to feel like family. They actually claim to be America’s firstpizzeria, since being licensed by the City of New York in 1905, and therefore regard their founder, Gennaro Lombardi, as the father of American pizza. Truly delicious pies and a must-try for everyone who visits Manhattan! Depending on when you arrive, you might just beat the crowds and easily eat a whole pie without a problem. Especially convenient for guests staying at the nearby Crosby Street Hotel. 32 Spring Street

Here’s a scene from a fall day at @theflxcottage in @flxwinecountry. During a time when there was so much to grieve and nowhere to really go, we found, and find, happiness and peace here. It truly is magical this way.

Of all the promises travel offers, what is true is that whatever bliss, peace, and joy you may be looking for will start from within, and until then, travel serves only as temporary escapism, never truly grounded reality.

Travel is privileged joy. But when your home is joy too, then you know you’ve really found a gift that will carry you no matter where you go. Or don’t. Because where you are is enough. And that is everything.

Sometimes you just need to take a long, long walk. Sometimes you just need to take a long, long walk.
Some times, more than others, you need to hold on Some times, more than others, you need to hold on to moments of joy tighter than ever.

For me, this week, it has been found during long drives through country roads and wintery scenes in wine country. Or with a good movie or TV show (Sylvie’s Love was my latest, along with Netflix’s special “Pretend It’s A City” with Fran Lebowitz). Or with loving conversations with dear friends.

The point is, as a society, there is much to do, but our heart and mind and soul are sacred. Care for them. Love them. Feed them joy, however and wherever you may find it. We may live to fight another day...but we don’t have to live to fight every day.♥️
