Apple Picking Fun in Riamede Farm in Chester, NJ

It’s that time of the year! This year we discovered a new place to go pumpkin picking in Toano, VA at Pumpkinville and instead of venturing upstate like we have in the past, we decided to discover apple picking in New Jersey.

Honestly, as I started writing this post, I realized that I have failed you in delivering the images of what Chester, NJ is looking like today. Even if you have picked your apples for the season, it’s still worth a drive there. It is just breathtakingly beautiful, bursting of colors with little hidden creeks and lakes throughout, I was so busy admiring it all that I forgot to take pictures to share with you all here. Blogger fail.

On the day we decided to head over to the farm, it was a windy but beautiful Fall day. I would even go as far as to say that it was Fall at its very best.

The apple picking at Riamede Farm is a bit slim nowadays, but you can still find a good bunch in the farther part of the farm. We managed to gather about 40 pounds – plenty for pie-making!

There is a $1 dollar admission to the farm, and a plastic bag that holds about 20 pounds of apples is 50 cents. They offer hay rides for no additional charge and have a nice little hay area where the kids love to jump and play freely.

They also have a stand where they sell cider hot dogs (I know, weird but hubby swears they are delicious), apple cider donuts which they make on the spot, pop corn (which they pop right there as well) and other goodies. Bring cash. Though they do have an ATM available, they do not accept credit cards.

In a small shop they sell gourds, pumpkins, seasonal flowers and plants, as well as other Fall decorations and treats.

I loved that the trees were never too tall for the little ones and it was easy for them to run around and pick their favorites. I am not sure how long we were at the farm, maybe two or three hours. I do remember though feeling warm from the walking and the warm apple cider. My kids had a blast, and the drive home was just heavenly.

I hope you can make it out that way soon while the foliage is in full display of colors. Who says you have to go all the way to Maine or Vermont? There are some pretty incredible scenes to capture right here close to home.

Happy picking!

Riamede Farm is open 9:00-4:30 daily. Located at 122 Oakdale Road, NJ. Telephone: 908-879-5353.

Hi Willie, have fun! I did not see dogs but also don't recall seeing signs saying otherwise. Sorry I can't be of more help. But either way I know you will love it : )

Is a day enough to really experience Massachusetts Is a day enough to really experience Massachusetts’ Berkshire County? Not even close. But if you needed a quick little fix of mountain air, a day trip will do.

Here were my stops on this 24 hour jaunt to the Berkshires:

📍Coffee and a morning bite at @wanderberkshires in Pittsfield, MA
📍@themountlenox author Edith Wharton’s home, for forest strolling, sculpture and flower garden admiring, and summer cottage touring - and for a light lunch in Lenox, MA.
📍Mount Greylock for a drive up to Massachusetts’ highest point (at 3,489 feet) and some epic views.
📍Dinner and drinks at @touristswelcome in North Adams.
📍Sunset views from Pontoosuc Lake near Pittsfield, MA.

And I have two more wonderful spots to add to my growing list….alreasy popular with those in the know, so I am just chiming in to further affirm all the accolades.

Starting with @havencafebakery in Lenox, MA. Super friendly staff, killer chai (and an awesome tea selection) and a small but delightfully seasonal menu. Felt super “homemade” in the yummy, cozy way that makes you feel nostalgic.

My mind was blown at @statefoodndrink in North Adams, MA. Come on Mondays and experience a Southern classics menu, which …zomg…so good! I cried a little inside to be missing out on their Vietnamese night (Tuesday) but promised Chef Tu Le I would be back for that and their weekend brunch 🙌🏾. The vibe is also welcoming, even for such a massive, factory space, and it felt fun with several community-focused happenings taking place in the surrounding spaces. An immediate favorite and a must on your next trip to The Berkshires!

The Cascades Trail is an easy 2.1 mile hike in and out in the City of North Adams. We all needed a quiet little escape into the woods along a rushing brook, over a few wooden bridges and fallen foliage and towards a small cascade.

There are countless hikes for every type of adventure-seeker, but when the goal is just a stroll and a moment of connection with nature and your thoughts, there are plenty of those trails too.
