Travel Photography: Montreal, Quebec

Ok. I admit it. I loved Montreal. Montrealers are known for their pride of their hometown. I think they deserve to be. Montreal is a great city and their ability to hold on to two cultures and languages for generations is something I greatly admire and even envy. Coming from NYC, I respect and understand cultural, hometown pride and Montrealers have much to be proud about, including all t[...]

Montreal with Kids

Recently I wrote about Montreal as a romantic destination. But it turns out that this beautiful, historic city is also very family friendly offering up tons to do for those traveling with kids in tow. Visiting Montreal is a wonderful way to expose your children to a foreign language (French) and different cultures without having to travel too far. It makes for a wonderful road trip, with o[...]

A Day in The Bronx Zoo

We have visited the Bronx Zoo many times and enjoy it because of how easy it is to spend the entire day there, as well as because of all the things to see and do. This time of the year, especially around noon, is a wonderful time to visit as the animals have had their off springs, and these have grown enough to be fun to watch. Another reason we love the zoo so much is because if its work[...]

Americans Live to Work…And How That Fails Us

A news story released on CBS This Morning of an interview Dr. Ian Smith, author of the book "Happy: Simple Steps for Getting The Most Out of Life" over a survey linking wellness and happiness as a result of vacation.  Dr. Smith points out that Americans get the least vacation time, about 14 days on average compared to France and the UK which get about 30 days. Yet still, despite our con[...]

Summer in NYC with Kids in Tow

Expedia

One of our greatest fortunes as a curious, adventurous family is that we live in one of the best cities in the world: New York City. The list of things to do with kids here is endless, so much so that I never run out of things to share and things to explore with my little ones. In the summer especially, the city just comes alive with possibilities. So many activities, many of them free, ta[...]

Romantic Montreal, Quebec, Canada

I love traveling with my family. My boys are at that perfect age where they get along much better and are more patient with longer travels. Yes, I adore them. But every so often I crave a romantic trip alone with my husband, no kids in tow. Only a short trip out of NYC (a 50 minute plane ride) makes Montreal a prefect romantic escape from everyday life. The city is walkable and very simple[...]

Best Bagels in Montreal, Quebec

For the past two days I've been touring Montreal, Quebec, Canada with my husband and learning so much about this vibrant, family-friendly (as well as romantic) destination. I have a lot to share on both those angles, but before I did that, I needed to sit down and share one of the most important discoveries I have made to date during my time here: Montreal bagels. Now, it turns out that a[...]

NYC Landmark: City Island Nautical Museum

City Island in the Bronx is a favorite destination for many New Yorkers looking for a beach-side escape where delicious seafood fair can be found. The traffic on the one road into this small neighborhood is not for the faint of heart, or the impatient, but a beautiful summer afternoon spent in City Island is a tradition most New Yorkers can’t go without. We've loved visiting the area for[...]

NYC Landmark: Snug Harbor, Staten Island, NY

I first discovered the Snug Harbor Cultural Center in 2009 when I ventured into Staten Island via the State Island Ferry  with my young children. Our goal was to find the Staten Island Children’s Museum but in the process came across a beautiful area past an arch stone entry that united the tall iron fences on both sides in which it was enclosed.read more[...]

NYC Landmark: Queens County Farm

One of my happiest summer adventure was at the Queens County Farm with my children, during their annual Children's Carnival. The carnival has since passed for this year, but they are still hosting some great events well into October. I invite you to read about how the farm was able to bring joy to me family at the Queens County Farm's Children's Carnival since we first discovered it in 20[...]

Signs of autumn 🍂 in the Finger Lakes. Signs of autumn 🍂 in the Finger Lakes.

We are celebrating @travisjcain today on his birth We are celebrating @travisjcain today on his birthday but also for all he does for me and our sweet little family. Here we are in a lux NYC hotel, enjoying early morning room service to start his day.

This weekend Travis navigated the chaos of New York City traffic with our cafe trailer in tow, for what was my insane dream to do a pop-up in the city. And he did so beautifully and safely.

To say that my dreams and wild pursuits in life have kept this man *stressed* and on his toes for the 20+ years we have been together is an understatement. And while we may butt heads, in the end he doesn’t say no and supports me and uplifts me.

An amazing father, and those who are lucky enough to call him friend know he’s a treasured one. A talented artist and creator. And we love him to pieces.

Happy birthday, my beautiful Travis. May life give you all you deserve and all your dreams, even if peace while being married to a crazy dreamer like me isn’t one of them. 🤣🤭 I love you.

Bucket list coffee shop: @mercurycoffeeco 🤎 Fr Bucket list coffee shop: @mercurycoffeeco 🤎

From a mobile coffee cart that started in March of 2024 to a brick and mortar that opened in the cool Rochester neighborhood of South Wedge in June 2025, this sweet little shop is serving up cool vibes and delicious coffee.

Was it my third cup of coffee of the morning? Yes. Was it worth it? A million percent.

Go give them some love. 🫶🏾☕️

Two things easily sooth my soul: coffee and books. Two things easily sooth my soul: coffee and books. And this afternoon was for books. Enter this cool bookstore find in Pittsford, NY: @bookculturepittsford. New for me, but this gem has been a part of the Pittsford community since December of 2021, with another location in NYC on 112th and Broadway. (Founded as Labyrinth Books in 1997).

It looks small on the outside, but it’s a massive space taking up two shops, and a garage in the back dedicated to kids’ books and gifts.

Honestly, they have such a diverse collection I am surprised I only walked away with three books. Could have easily done more damage.

Pittsford itself is a pretty area outside of the city of Rochester and a short drive from the same, with tons to do including enjoying a bike ride on the trail along the Erie Canal (or take a cruise!), shopping in cute stores, and dining in quaint locally owned eateries. A very sweet experience.

Add this shop to your book lover’s must see.
