The Face of Travel

I have a confession. Though I adore my community of travel writers and bloggers, and have developed some very endearing and close friendships with many of them, when it comes to listening to most travel writers talk, especially to others about travel, I cringe. I want to roll my eyes and walk away exasperated in frustration at the abundance of arrogance and obvious disconnect to the realit[...]

Fall Foliage in New Jersey

When I was 8 years old, my parents and I moved out of the city for a bit and into the suburbs of Teaneck, NJ. After school I would walk home on my own, often taking my time because I had a crush on a boy named Andrew who seemed to move as slow as molasses and with whom I took these walks home with. I don't think Andrew really had much of a crush on me, but he walked with me anyway - mainl[...]

Apple Picking Fun in Riamede Farm in Chester, NJ

It's that time of the year! This year we discovered a new place to go pumpkin picking in Toano, VA at Pumpkinville and instead of venturing upstate like we have in the past, we decided to discover apple picking in New Jersey. Honestly, as I started writing this post, I realized that I have failed you in delivering the images of what Chester, NJ is looking like today. Even if you have picke[...]

Back in Time to Colonial Williamsburg, VA

Last weekend the family and I packed up the car and headed 7 hours South to Virginia to visit the Williamsburg area. Now, we've been to Williamsburg, VA in the past when we visited Bush Gardens in our last Summer road trip. But this time we were going for a new experience. We were going to step back in time with a visit to Colonial Williamsburg, where my hope was that the boys would get a[...]

Road trips and the good stuff they are made of

We went on another road trip this weekend. To Colonial Williamsburg, VA. In this post, I just wanted to talk about the road trip itself. Not necessarily about this particular road trip, just about the whole road trip idea and why you should do it. I remember not really loving the whole road tripping thing till I had my own kids, and finances really demanded that we get creative if we want[...]

Riviera Maya – First Step to Discovering Mexico

I arrived to Cancún, Mexico late on a Wednesday night. I met Juan Carlos, the driver from Riviera Maya assigned to pick me up and greeted him in Spanish, which surprised him - something that would happen a lot during my visit any time I spoke to anyone in Spanish. Our common language would be the thing that would make us comfortable with each other within minutes of our hour drive from[...]

Folklore, History, and Nature’s Beauty at Indian Echo Caverns

We had so much fun in Hershey, PA area that when it was time to leave my 4 year old protested and requested  "one adventure more". Luckily for us an unexpected turn lead us right to Indian Echo Caverns, a limestone cave which took over a million years to create by the erosive properties of water. In reading about the caverns we found out that I learned that it is normal for wildlife to s[...]

Sweet Fun at Hershey Park, PA

After our fun adventures at Chocolate World, the family and I couldn't wait to visit Hershey Park. I had heard so much about the park from so many different people who have gone, and never once have I heard anyone say anything negative about it, we just needed to go see for ourselves. We went on one of the busiest days of the season (last Saturdays of Summer). We arrived to the area a litt[...]

Discovery of a Chocolate World in Hershey, PA

The East Coast has been hit with a lot of rain these past few weekends, and this coming weekend will be no exception. However, we have been really fortunate in getting out to enjoy some time during our Road Trip Weekends, at least a day or two with sunshine allowing for lots of fun adventures. Our latest road trip lead us to Hershey, PA. The family and I drove out later in the afternoon on[...]

Hubby and I recently had a lovely brunch experienc Hubby and I recently had a lovely brunch experience near our beautiful home in Finger Lakes Wine Country.

We headed to @burntrosewinebar, on Main St. in Penn Yan NY.

I absolutely love the aesthetics and vibes of this restaurant, owned by Rose Curry, a sommelier, and her husband, Chet Thompson, a classically-trained chef.

Their field-to-table, seasonal menu is elevated, eclectic, sophisticated, but also approachable and delicious. It celebrates the cultural flavors of Rose’s Mexican roots and features Chet’s culinary talent beautifully.

If on the menu, you absolutely must try their Mole dusted burrata topped with toasted pepitas & pumpkin seed oil, and Chef’s Jammy Egg, which is a cured egg served sun-dried tomato and their house-made basil pesto.

They have a wine list featuring the best of the Finger Lakes, though my absolute obsession is their spiced apple and caramel Mimosa!

The entire experience is addicting…and if you can’t get enough, they also co-own the @the18thamendment.py right next door on Main St., another example of the growing food scene in the Finger Lakes!

Reservations are highly recommended.

Hubby took this photo of me, and I kinda love it, Hubby took this photo of me, and I kinda love it, though photos or videos of me are not really my favorite.

I like that it shows me genuinely happy in this moment. I like that it shows how far I’ve come in life….in years.

And thinking of what I have already accomplished, in the years I have lived so far, makes whatever were wasted moments feel smaller over time. And that feels lucky.

I spend so much time capturing the joy of others and feel loved to have someone capture a moment in joy of me. Thanks, @travisjcain, for seeing me with so much love.
Let’s be real: Halloween Season comes and goes t Let’s be real: Halloween Season comes and goes too fast, so if you missed it, I wanted to share this fun Halloween experience to add to your bucket list for next year: the @Naumkeag Pumpkin Show, in the Berkshires’ Stockbridge, MA.

🎃 Tour the gardens, and through some indoor space to view over 1500 mums, carved displays, and more!
🎃 This is a family-friendly experience, and accessibility is limited, including for strollers and wheelchairs.
🎃 On non-events occasions and depending on weather, the property is available for pre-booked tours.
