Ice Skating in The Pond, Bryant Park, NY

Bryant Park is one of my favorite smaller parks in NYC.  I have written about it here before.  It is the main location of every year's Fashion Week , and of many more events year round. But in the Winter especially, the park is transformed into a Winter Wonderland, and The Pond is created hosting a free skating rink, along with shops for the holidays, a gorgeous Christmas tree, and bar/r[...]

Holiday in New York City: Grand Central Station

Well, here it is. The holidays in New York City. My kids have not been sleeping well...or rather, I have not been sleeping well. The little ones have been waking up way too early for my liking and I am not sure why.  It may have something to do with the excitement in the air overall. This is our second Christmas in New York City since we moved back from Wisconsin. When I lived in WI, and[...]

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

The first snowfall of the season...I mean real snow fall, like storm, with gusty winds, and inches and inches of it. And I couldn't be happier. I LOVE New York City covered in snow. It's gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. So, there I was getting stuff done, kids in bed, husband finishing up his online gift buying, the wind slamming against our window. And I could see the snow falling and fall[...]

Blogaversary: A Blog Turns One, The Adventure Continues

Exactly one year ago, on December 10, 2008, I published my very first NYCity Mama adventure. I wrote about Ft. Tryon Park. People ask me a lot of questions about my "blogging career", and honestly, I don't have the answer to a lot of them, except for why I started. To tell the truth, when I started blogging, I didn't read blogs, not personal blogs. I read news blogs, magazine blogs...didn'[...]

New York Hall of Science, Corona, Queens, NY

It's a beautiful, yet very cold day here in New York City.  On days like these many parents are going a little crazy trying to figure out what to do with their kids. I have a few "inside" favorites, like the The Brooklyn's Children Museum, the American Museum of Natural History, Liberty Science Center, Staten Island Children's Museum, and the New York Hall of Science.read more[...]

Christmas Tree Hunting at Hahn Farm, Salt Point, NY

I am in heaven. Thanksgiving came and went, and that in itself was an awesome time for our little family unit. But what I love the most right after Thanksgiving is going to a Christmas tree farm, searching for that one special tree, cutting it down, and bringing it home. Last year we drove out to Long Island to Carter Christmas Tree Farm. And it was an "alright" experience, but this year[...]

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, New York

New York City is full of incredible, breathtaking landmarks. For a lover of New York like myself, walking down the streets of the amazing city can be an incredibly spiritual experience.  Especially when surrounded by such great architecture. One of the most recognizable and historical architectural landscapes in the city, visited by thousands of people everyday, is the beautiful Saint Pat[...]

Favorite NYC Hotels for Special Occasions and Celebrations

I love staying in hotels.  I don't always necessarily stay in luxury hotels, especially now that I often travel with kids in tow. But there have been those moments when I have had the pleasure of experiencing that part of the New York life, whether it be for an anniversary, or a wedding, or just a nice escape with my husband not too far from home, without the kids. Thus, I am dedicating[...]

Halloween in Brooklyn

Ah, Fall...the countdown in everyone child's mind to Halloween. I have been getting my kids all worked up about Halloween for about a month now. Decorations in the store fronts made it that much more exciting, and stopping to stare at the window displays was the highlight of every walk we took. This morning I woke up and it was finally here: Halloween.  My little ones couldn't contain[...]

Hubby and I recently had a lovely brunch experienc Hubby and I recently had a lovely brunch experience near our beautiful home in Finger Lakes Wine Country.

We headed to @burntrosewinebar, on Main St. in Penn Yan NY.

I absolutely love the aesthetics and vibes of this restaurant, owned by Rose Curry, a sommelier, and her husband, Chet Thompson, a classically-trained chef.

Their field-to-table, seasonal menu is elevated, eclectic, sophisticated, but also approachable and delicious. It celebrates the cultural flavors of Rose’s Mexican roots and features Chet’s culinary talent beautifully.

If on the menu, you absolutely must try their Mole dusted burrata topped with toasted pepitas & pumpkin seed oil, and Chef’s Jammy Egg, which is a cured egg served sun-dried tomato and their house-made basil pesto.

They have a wine list featuring the best of the Finger Lakes, though my absolute obsession is their spiced apple and caramel Mimosa!

The entire experience is addicting…and if you can’t get enough, they also co-own the @the18thamendment.py right next door on Main St., another example of the growing food scene in the Finger Lakes!

Reservations are highly recommended.

Hubby took this photo of me, and I kinda love it, Hubby took this photo of me, and I kinda love it, though photos or videos of me are not really my favorite.

I like that it shows me genuinely happy in this moment. I like that it shows how far I’ve come in life….in years.

And thinking of what I have already accomplished, in the years I have lived so far, makes whatever were wasted moments feel smaller over time. And that feels lucky.

I spend so much time capturing the joy of others and feel loved to have someone capture a moment in joy of me. Thanks, @travisjcain, for seeing me with so much love.
Let’s be real: Halloween Season comes and goes t Let’s be real: Halloween Season comes and goes too fast, so if you missed it, I wanted to share this fun Halloween experience to add to your bucket list for next year: the @Naumkeag Pumpkin Show, in the Berkshires’ Stockbridge, MA.

🎃 Book your tix and time slot online (later times are the most popular).
🎃 Park at a designated spot in Downtown Stockbridge and take a short bus ride to Naumkeag, a 44-room Gilded Age “cottage” with 8 acres of awe-inspiring natural beauty, including public gardens.
🎃 Tour the gardens, and through some indoor space to view over 1500 mums, carved displays, and more!
🎃 This is a family-friendly experience, and accessibility is limited, including for strollers and wheelchairs.
🎃 On non-events occasions and depending on weather, the property is available for pre-booked tours.
🎃 Missed Halloween? Book a tour of their Winter Lights holiday displays which kicks off end of November!
