Discovering The High Line, NYC

One of the wonderful things about New York City is that just when you think you've seen it all, or know it all, something changes, reinvents itself, becomes anew, tempting you to come back and take another look, rediscover it, get to know it again.  It is why even after living here most of my life and having been gone for almost 4 years, I find myself returning to a city waiting to be red[...]

Building Memories in Coney Island, NY

Lazy mornings, if ignored, can lead to lazy afternoons until they become days, causing, without notice the complete extinction of a day once fully planned with activities.  This was the danger we faced this morning.  And though there is nothing wrong with lazy mornings, afternoons, or days, it is very rare that the ones feeling "lazy" are my children, thus forcing the laziness right out[...]

NYC Travel Photography: A Stroll to the Park

Not too long ago, the boys and I headed to one of my favorite playgrounds in Central Park, right off of 67th and 5th Avenue. We walked past all the energy and excitement often found along Fifth Avenue...even past some overly excited tourists taking pictures of a man being arrested (oh the excitement of it all!), and past the famous Plaza Hotel, and fairly new Apple Store and FAO Schwarz To[...]

South Street Seaport: The Adventure Home

Continued from: Governor's Island The ferry ride to and from Governor's Island is a short one.  On their way back to Manhattan, NYCity Mama and family didn't bother to get to the front of the ferry and check out the views.  They were content with just siting back, enjoying the breeze that came in through the windows, and rest. The crowd exited the ferry in an organized, yet hurried pace,[...]

Governor’s Island, NY

NYCity Mama loves Saturdays.  Normally her weekends are full of things to do, places to go, people to see. And this Saturday was no exception.  But it was exceptional in how slow everything was going.  She couldn't manage to wake up earlier than she did, nor could she manage to get moving as fast as she wanted to, which meant no one else was moving faster either.  By the time she looke[...]

Orchard Beach & City Island, Bronx, NY

It was hot and all we wanted to do was go to the beach.  Thing is, this idea was spontaneous, and anyone who has children knows that "spontaneity" is not easy to pull off.  But anyone who knows me also knows that I am always up for a challenge, especially when it comes to figuring out ways to keep my family entertained and active. Because it was already later in the morning than it shoul[...]

Fleet Week on The Intrepid Space Museum

Memorial Day weekend had begun and I was going to make it GREAT. Because in NYC, Fleet Week is full of activities for adults and kids, and do a pretty good job in celebrating the uniforms that step on shore for a reprieve. And all this "greatness" was going to be kicked off by the activities taking place on Pier 84 in celebration of Fleet Week. When we arrived at the pier, the lines were a[...]

Green Day Concert in Central Park, NY

4:00AM.  My husband gently tugged at me to wake me up.  I had promised my 11 year old son that I would treat him to something special. I dragged myself out of my comfy bed and washed my face with cold water. My eyes were red from lack of sleep, but I was excited about the upcoming Adventure with my oldest son. Excited because it was so rare that I got a chance to be with him alone, witho[...]

Art and Fun Nelson A. Rockefeller Park, Battery Park, NYC

It's been starting to feel more and more like summer is upon us. New York City in the months of May and June takes on a new life. Concerts are being held every where you turn, eateries are more confident on re-establishing their outside eating seating, fountains are on, though sprinklers are not till after Memorial Day weekend, and the streets are full with people. Today was one of those[...]

My Latinx and immigrant people: your happiness, your success, and your positive hopes and dreams for the future are also forms of revolution. But, above all, our people are resilient and capable of more than you can imagine. Let us move forward with our heads held high, with dignity, and courage.

We found this spot a few years ago, before we moved to the area full time while at a rental nearby and immediately fell in love with its community and cozy vibe, and delicious coffee.

It’s even cuter than when we first visited while all the reasons we love it remain. Always worth a stop when in Geneva.
