NYC Travel Photography: When The City is Your Playground

Lately my boys have refused to be inside. I don't blame them of course, we've been inside, sheltering ourselves from the cold for so long now that they have begun to reject the chill on their cheeks and decided to endure whatever the freezing temperatures may be ju[...]

Two Ice Skating Rinks in NYC: A Tween Reviews

The following post was written by my 12 year old son, David, based on his experiences ice skating with a few of his friends this past weekend. This is his Adventure, without parents in tow. This weekend my friends and I went to Battery Park Ice Skating Rink. I w[...]

Patsy’s Pizzeria, A Tasty Adventure in East Harlem

Recently in meeting some twitter friends, I made my way to the east side. The day was snowy, but the air that greeted me as I exited the subway was filled with the warm beats of an ancient Salsero whose music I often heard played during my childhood, but whose name[...]

2010: New Year, Even More Adventures Ahead

I'm not a fan of New Year Resolutions. Though I love New Beginnings. For me, it's a time of reflection, a time to take a long hard look at what/who is weighing me down, and what/who is lifting me up.  But most of all it is a time, though not the only time througho[...]

Holiday in New York City: Grand Central Station

Well, here it is. The holidays in New York City. My kids have not been sleeping well...or rather, I have not been sleeping well. The little ones have been waking up way too early for my liking and I am not sure why.  It may have something to do with the excitement[...]

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

The first snowfall of the season...I mean real snow fall, like storm, with gusty winds, and inches and inches of it. And I couldn't be happier. I LOVE New York City covered in snow. It's gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. So, there I was getting stuff done, kids in be[...]

New York Hall of Science, Corona, Queens, NY

It's a beautiful, yet very cold day here in New York City.  On days like these many parents are going a little crazy trying to figure out what to do with their kids. I have a few "inside" favorites, like the The Brooklyn's Children Museum, the American Museum of N[...]

Christmas Tree Hunting at Hahn Farm, Salt Point, NY

I am in heaven. Thanksgiving came and went, and that in itself was an awesome time for our little family unit. But what I love the most right after Thanksgiving is going to a Christmas tree farm, searching for that one special tree, cutting it down, and bringing it[...]

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, New York

Favorite NYC Hotels for Special Occasions and Celebrations

I love staying in hotels.  I don't always necessarily stay in luxury hotels, especially now that I often travel with kids in tow. But there have been those moments when I have had the pleasure of experiencing that part of the New York life, whether it be for an an[...]

Signs of autumn 🍂 in the Finger Lakes. Signs of autumn 🍂 in the Finger Lakes.
A wonderful weekend was had. We worked hard, but t A wonderful weekend was had. We worked hard, but then we rested even harder. We celebrated a successful cafe pop-up and a birthday in the city we love with people we love even more. Feels lucky, and we are grateful.

We are celebrating @travisjcain today on his birth We are celebrating @travisjcain today on his birthday but also for all he does for me and our sweet little family. Here we are in a lux NYC hotel, enjoying early morning room service to start his day.

This weekend Travis navigated the chaos of New York City traffic with our cafe trailer in tow, for what was my insane dream to do a pop-up in the city. And he did so beautifully and safely.

To say that my dreams and wild pursuits in life have kept this man *stressed* and on his toes for the 20+ years we have been together is an understatement. And while we may butt heads, in the end he doesn’t say no and supports me and uplifts me.

An amazing father, and those who are lucky enough to call him friend know he’s a treasured one. A talented artist and creator. And we love him to pieces.

Happy birthday, my beautiful Travis. May life give you all you deserve and all your dreams, even if peace while being married to a crazy dreamer like me isn’t one of them. 🤣🤭 I love you.

Bucket list coffee shop: @mercurycoffeeco 🤎 Fr Bucket list coffee shop: @mercurycoffeeco 🤎

From a mobile coffee cart that started in March of 2024 to a brick and mortar that opened in the cool Rochester neighborhood of South Wedge in June 2025, this sweet little shop is serving up cool vibes and delicious coffee.

Was it my third cup of coffee of the morning? Yes. Was it worth it? A million percent.

Go give them some love. 🫶🏾☕️

Two things easily sooth my soul: coffee and books. Two things easily sooth my soul: coffee and books. And this afternoon was for books. Enter this cool bookstore find in Pittsford, NY: @bookculturepittsford. New for me, but this gem has been a part of the Pittsford community since December of 2021, with another location in NYC on 112th and Broadway. (Founded as Labyrinth Books in 1997).

It looks small on the outside, but it’s a massive space taking up two shops, and a garage in the back dedicated to kids’ books and gifts.

Honestly, they have such a diverse collection I am surprised I only walked away with three books. Could have easily done more damage.

Pittsford itself is a pretty area outside of the city of Rochester and a short drive from the same, with tons to do including enjoying a bike ride on the trail along the Erie Canal (or take a cruise!), shopping in cute stores, and dining in quaint locally owned eateries. A very sweet experience.

Add this shop to your book lover’s must see.
