Timeless Ireland at Ashford Castle

I think back at the days I spent touring Ireland and I realize that the moments where I was happiest was when I felt the history of the place around me. There’s something to be revered about a place that has survived the test of time and the whims of humanity.

There would be many places in my Ireland road trip with Insight Vacations that would wow me, but none would be as awe-inspiring as the majestic Ashford Castle.

Ireland road trip: a photo tour

I am not really sure how many times one would have to visit Ireland before walking away with a sense of fulfillment. I have been there twice now and I am not yet fulfilled. I crave every ounce of experience even more since I left this beautiful country. Even memories of the misty weather makes my heart ache for a trip back.

This small country holds massive opportunities for discovery, no matter what kind of travel experience you seek. I love that my trips have all started in Dublin, a city I adore, but I am even more grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to venture outside of the city and see another side of the country.

24 Wonderful Hours in Paris

Last year, when I visited Paris on vacation with my family, it rained every single day we were here…except for the day we were heading home.

Despite this, my family and I had the best time. We visited the Louvre, climbed to the top of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Champs Élysées. We toured Sacre Coeur and Montmartre. We visited cafes and brasseries, stayed in a fabulous HomeAway apartment and sailed the Seine. It was magical and fun, rain and all.

I didn’t expect was that I would have the opportunity to return so soon.

First let me say that I think it a beautiful thing to share travel with others. I say this simply based on how happy it made me and those involved in going through the entries of this contest feel when we looked through them.

Antigua, Guatemala and my return for Cooperative for Education

My newfound love for Guatemala has stayed with me since my recent visit. Sharing the different stories from that visit over the next few weeks is something I am excited about.

One of the most-visited areas that I ventured into was Antigua, Guatemala. Formerly the capital city, it has a lot of the beauty and romanticism one would expect from the highlands of Guatemala. The colorful architecture and cobblestone streets are stuck in colonial times, designating it a UNESCO Heritage Site.

The people of Guatemala

I have hundreds and hundreds of photos from my recent trip to Guatemala. Going through them made me smile more times than I can count.

When thinking about where I wanted to start in sharing my Guatemalan story with you, it was the faces of the people I met along the way that made me the happiest. So, of course, this seemed like that perfect intro.

I’m excited to announce a partnership with Canon for their Bring It in Brooklyn event this week. I am also trying out their new Canon EOS Rebel T6i, which I am enjoying.

I’ve followed Canon’s Bring It campaign for some time now on Twitter and have loved the photos that they’ve shared.

Almsgiving to the monks Chiang Khan

There is one vivid memory that has stayed with me since my return from the small Northern village of Chiang Khan in Thailand.

It’s of the morning when I had to get up around 5 to prepare myself for the ceremonial offerings to the monks.

Visiting Thailand and Cruising the Mekong River

It’s been two weeks since I returned from my trip to Thailand.

I was ready for a very many things, except for the long flight – I definitely should have prepared better for that (sleeping meds, more getting up and stretching, and more comfortable clothes, for starters).

I knew that whatever happened didn’t matter, because it was all new to me anyway. I think this is still the most excited thing about travel for me; the unexpected, the unknown, the new. It mattered little how much Anthony Bourdain has featured the country in his series, or how many travel bloggers often write about the country – for me it was all new.
