Pop Burger: A Quick Burger Fix

While taking in NYC at night during our recent Hotel Elysee stay, we decided to pop in at Pop Burger for a quick bite. The place at 7:30pm on a Friday night was completely empty downstairs (street level). This is because the places that are really “happening” are the second level (with happy hour from 5.00pm to 8.00pm) and the 3rd level which is even swankier then the second, and most certainly the first, but they are also a lot pricier.

Since I was with the kiddos, an empty burger joint in Midtown Manhattan was perfect. We ordered hot dogs for the kids and the Pop Burger for my husband and I. The fries are the best: super crunchy, not oily and perfectly salted. The burgers (sliders) were also very good, with the works. We spent about $10 for each of us, so it was a bit pricier than a regular fast food place, but the food was also better.

I also loved that there was an option for grilled corn on the cob, which my 3.5 year old devoured. You put in your order and can take it out or sit in the back. We had the whole place to ourselves and hung out a bit longer because of it, plus no one seemed to care.

Not sure what it is like in terms of service upstairs, but I do know it’s a pretty popular bar scene Expect to pay $15 at the upstairs lounge for a Pop Burger, and only $6.75 for the same at the counter downstairs. So if you are just looking for a place to crab some burgers, fries and drink, stop in on the first level, and even get it to go on a nice day and eat it at the Central Park, only a block away.

Sometimes I find country living too different and Sometimes I find country living too different and unsuitable. But then I have days that exhaust me. Or I am riddled with anxiety and uncertainty - a common theme for me as of late. Or just need to clear my head. Then I find the country to be the best medicine. Maybe it’s the crisp cold air. Or the soothing of the rushing glen. Or the sound of the ravens nesting nearby. Or the soft, cushy moss under my feet. Whatever it is, I am so grateful even when it all feels so unsure. I know this is pretty lucky.

After the rain, this is the sound as the sun sets: After the rain, this is the sound as the sun sets: the song of what seems to be a thousand peepers and the water rushing from the glen down the 100 foot waterfall right in front of our little country cottage.

As much as I still love the noise of my NYC, this wasn’t a bad trade off. ❤️

Now is the perfect time to visit the Finger Lakes if you enjoy waterfalls. Through mud season and again during the rainy days of fall these waterways are the most active and beautiful.

One of the many reasons we love our home in this stunning region.
