The Gelato on a Stick Sweetness of a Popbar

Are you feeling the heat yet? I know I am, and that glorious humidity that often comes with it here in NYC. Wouldn’t be much fun if we couldn’t escape to the awesome parks, or the beaches…or if we didn’t have an almost endless supply of frozen treats around the city to cool us off.

I’m not talking about the questionable Mr. Frosty trucks my kids (unfortunately) gravitate to, I am talking about treats that are not only much better for you, but also better made.

One such delight is the Popbar, a gelato on a stick made of all-natural ingredients. Located on 5 Carmine St. and 6th Ave., this small shop is a colorful display of all sorts of gelatos on a stick flavors. These Kosher certified, gluten- and preservative-free icy treats come in flavors such as hazelnut, coffee, coconut, vanilla, or pistachio, just to name a few. You can have them dipped in chocolate, or nuts, or a variety of other coatings.

They also serve PopSorbettos and YogurtPops, and have been known to help cater a few kid’s birthday parties.

My absolute favorite is this awesome creation right here:

Coffee gelato bar dipped in chocolate and pistachio with nuts. YUM-MY.

So, if you’re in the West Village, and are looking for a cold treat that won’t slow you down, head on over to Popbar…just brace yourself, for the selection process can be long, but worth it.

Are you a MacKenzie-Childs fan? I only heard about Are you a MacKenzie-Childs fan? I only heard about @mackenziechilds after moving to the Finger Lakes, as did my husband. But my MIL is very well-versed in all things MC and is a massive fan. We were so pleased to have learned that her visit coincided with their Artisan Crafts Festival (going on through today, Oct 1, 2023), featuring regional artisans and craft makers, as well as tons of discounted MC items! We thought for sure this would be fun FOR HER and that was the goal. Little did WE ALL expect - including the teens - to enjoy it so much and get caught up in the excitement of finding items we also wanted (the pumpkins and Xmas decor were a huge hit)! Plus the festival has several delicious food trucks and beautiful grounds to explore, as well as this whimsical farmhouse to tour - seen here.

So we walked away with several goodies (not just for grandma) and a lesson on not making assumptions because we actually really loved it. In the end, it was such a fun day and we all agreed we would return, even without grandma in tow!

The lakes are a bit colder but still so beautiful, our favorite wineries are busy harvesting grapes (thanks to our friends at @wagnervineyards for taking me along for the ride!), and there is so much abundance from our local farmers to enjoy!

Here’s a glimpse of life in wine country! 🍁🍂🍎🍏🎃

The runners at this weekend’s @wgmarathon might get to enjoy a glimpse of it as they start their race (I will be up early to cheer my girl @thereshegoesagn on! 🙌🏾). But even if you don’t get up early enough to enjoy this sight, the fall colors are here to take your breath away too. 🍁🍂
