The Gelato on a Stick Sweetness of a Popbar

Are you feeling the heat yet? I know I am, and that glorious humidity that often comes with it here in NYC. Wouldn't be much fun if we couldn't escape to the awesome parks, or the beaches...or if we didn't have an almost endless supply of frozen treats around the c[...]

You would love to travel, but…

Let's face it. The truth is that you would love to travel but you can't. I know that it may seem that a lot of us travel writers are disconnected from that reality that is the so called "average person's" life. For many of us, the idea that someone won't travel is[...]

Dining, Shopping, Touring, and Falling in Love at Congress Hall, Cape May, NJ

There are so many reasons why travelers fall in love with a place. There is often one really special reason we choose to go back year after year, over all other choices. For me, when visiting Congress Hall in Cape May, NJ, that special reason would be its story. N[...]

Things to keep in mind when renting a vacation home

Favorite NYC Parks

We talk so much about NYC being a concrete jungle. So much so that even Alicia Keys sings about it. Truth is, and what most people don't expect, is that New York City has a lot of green area that we can enjoy. There are truly countless of parks, from small to larg[...]

Taking The Ride Around NYC

My oldest son recently asked me why it was that I enjoyed taking tours around New York City. He said, "Don't you know it all by now?" Well, some would assume so. But not I. I am not too proud to admit that there are a lot of things that I don't know about my city,[...]

Renting a vacation home when traveling

Some years ago, long before blogging or traveling professionally, I headed out to Paris with my oldest son, then 3 years old. In planning for the trip I was extremely nervous because I didn't know how my son would behave with us stuck in a hotel room, or how my nei[...]

Helicopter Over NYC

The other day my husband and I were talking about the most fun things we have ever done in this beloved city of ours. We both agreed that at the very top of our list is the helicopter ride we took over New York City. I had planned it for his birthday and I wante[...]

Tips for Your Family Trip to Disney

I have said it once, and I'll say it again; Disney is a wonderful place for anyone who visits, but for kids it is magical! I have been to Disney quite often but I have never been to Disney with my family and my husband and two little ones had never visited before[...]

Have you ever been to a shop so pretty and cozy it Have you ever been to a shop so pretty and cozy it makes you emotional? In NYC, @niconeco_zakkaya is up there as a fave for me.

This Japanese-inspired stationary boutique in the East Village gives me all the fuzzy feels and I was sad to hear that after 8 years unharmed, their charming shop sign was vandalized.

They are calling on a creative illustrator who might be interested in bringing a new one to life. Check their Insta for more. And as always, support, shop, and give all the love to small businesses wherever you live and your travels may take you. And next time you are in the East Village, go check them out, and their cafe in Williamsburg, @loafonpaperny (see my reel on them). My 🫶🏾 to this little shop.

We did what one does when the weather is just righ We did what one does when the weather is just right and the sun is shining over Brooklyn 🌞

Rode the ferry a few minutes from Dumbo to Williamsburg for a stroll and some delicious coffee.

Walked through Domino Park and into @birdeenyc, where I just had to taste a few of their delicious pastries and churro latte!

Then strolled over to @loafonpaperny and shopped for some pretty stationary goodies while sipping on their Earl Grey Matcha.

The perfect way to kick off a stunning day in the city!

My list of fave cafes continues to grow, and I am saving them in my “NY Cafes” highlights for those who are following along. ☕️

Healing my soul with people I love while trekking Healing my soul with people I love while trekking through glens in search of an eternal flame. 🔥

This hike, in Chestnut Ridge Park, near Orchard Park, a suburb of Buffalo, NY, is a moderate, 1.5-mile round trip (more or less) that takes you on forest trails, with some stairs, and creek walking; so definitely bring waterproof shoes with grip. This popular spot can get crowded, but if you’re lucky enough to have a solo experience like we did (because of rain), it’s pretty magical.
The most perfect date night in the most perfect li The most perfect date night in the most perfect little bistro in the most perfect New York destination. No, not NYC. The Finger Lakes.

The entire experience at @deanlanedining felt so incredibly elevated and special, and some might even say unexpected, especially from a farmhouse in rural Dundee, NY.

Husband and wife team, Michael and Lisa Dean create a wonderful farm-to-table prix fix menu, beautifully paired with wines selected by Sommelier @danbrezinsky, who, for as long as the moment allows, further complements the first tastings with a sharing of his deep knowledge and passion for the Finger Lakes wines he serves. The individual pairings per course (4) are optional but I do highly recommend as they influenced each dish and in some cases, my opinion of certain wines.

The vibe is intimate and personally, I enjoyed the early seating as I got to admire the sunset through the large dining room windows throughout my time there.

Their highly coveted B&B is fully booked for 2026, but reservations are open for limited seating at the restaurant, with menus changing weekly.

An absolute highlight, and a must during your visit to the Finger Lakes!
