Social Media and The Threat of Assumption on Our Brands

Today I made a phone call that I have wanted to make for about a year. I called a blogger whom I had been a total jerk to, and whom I had hurt with my words, and apologized. I took full responsibility for my words and my actions, acknowledged how they didn't deserv[...]

Condé Nast’s Choice To Stop Using Interns Might Help With Diversity in Media

Julia Beck, friend and founder of Forty Weeks, shared this article announcing the news that Condé Nast will stop using the help of interns to avoid liability. Liability that it has faced due to the fact that they have allegedly abused the program (and the interns)[...]

Too Old? The Follow Up & Answer

Just yesterday, I wrote this. I will admit that I had pretty much started to give up, play that voice in my head of it's not a big deal. My husband worried that I would draw negative feedback from "the industry", asked if I had gotten any push back, if I had starte[...]

The Role of Media & Diversity: Sticking Out Like A Sore Thumb

I was at a press event with a little over 35 other travel writers, bloggers, and brand representatives. I was talking to a travel writer about Japan, extremely curious about it because it is one of the places my family and I want to travel to soon. I asked her wha[...]

Is The Blogger Only As Good As Their Sponsorship?

Sponsorships. It is the factor in many conversations on blogging that often divide the blogger from the journalist, the self-proclaimed ethical writer from the so-called non-ethical one, the true professional from the opportunist. It is the thing that allow elitist[...]

Pitching Bloggers: To Call or Not To Call

I am having a hard time focusing this morning. I am exhausted from a 5 and half day trip and am feeling the pressure of impending deadlines. It's taking me a bit to get to things, but I was just getting to it when my phone rang. 212 number. NYC. I immediately imagi[...]

People

The train started to move. I sat quietly, completely aware. More aware of being on the train than I have been in a long time. More aware because my biggest source of distraction - my phone - was inadvertently left home. Instead of aiming for a panicked rush back in[...]

It’s Time to Take Back The Blog

Have you heard the news? Facebook is killing how we connect with our audience. Ok, maybe I am being a little dramatic, but not by much. Some people are blaming Edgerank, an algorithm developed by Facebook to govern what is displayed and how high on people's news[...]

What’s in a name?

Re-branding my site and bringing it to life was a catharsis for me. I was full of apprehension and insecurity over it. Afraid that I would somehow let down the many people who have supported me thus far. And that's what is so interesting about change, isn't it?[...]

Working with Latino Bloggers: The Mystery, The Myths

I am going to do something here that I rarely ever do on my blog, even when covering the issue of brand/blogger relationships: I am going to focus on a "group" of people, a group whose very definition has eluded brands and marketers for years: Latinos/Hispanics/Lat[...]

The most perfect date night in the most perfect li The most perfect date night in the most perfect little bistro in the most perfect New York destination. No, not NYC. The Finger Lakes.

The entire experience at @deanlanedining felt so incredibly elevated and special, and some might even say unexpected, especially from a farmhouse in rural Dundee, NY.

Husband and wife team, Michael and Lisa Dean create a wonderful farm-to-table prix fix menu, beautifully paired with wines selected by Sommelier @danbrezinsky, who, for as long as the moment allows, further complements the first tastings with a sharing of his deep knowledge and passion for the Finger Lakes wines he serves. The individual pairings per course (4) are optional but I do highly recommend as they influenced each dish and in some cases, my opinion of certain wines.

The vibe is intimate and personally, I enjoyed the early seating as I got to admire the sunset through the large dining room windows throughout my time there.

Their highly coveted B&B is fully booked for 2026, but reservations are open for limited seating at the restaurant, with menus changing weekly.

An absolute highlight, and a must during your visit to the Finger Lakes!

One of the dreamiest of views for me, that I don’t think I will ever tire of, is mist over the hills and lakes. And rainy seasons like these are perfect for such moments.

After an eventful evening (and thank you all for the love and congratulatory messages🤎), I am eager to spend this rainy day back at my computer getting work done.

It’s a wonderful thing to be immersed in a region you love, and to often be tasked to share its stories with others, it’s a whole other thing when regional representatives not only notice it, but reward you for it.

To listen to others get on stage and talk about that work with such admiration and awe still feels surreal and beyond flattering. It’s overwhelming. And I am grateful beyond words, and excited to continue to do the best that I can for as long as I am welcomed and given the opportunity to do so.

So whether it is for work (@braveworldmedia) or on this page, I am happy to share the stories and many reasons why we, along with so many others, decided to make this our home. ❤️

Thanks for the support and for following along.

The coffee? Amazing of course, but Scale House brew also delish, and I was really impressed with their pizza. So if ya know, ya know. If you don’t, get over there stat. I heard it’s pretty busy during the summer months!

And make sure to stop into Overlook Coffee too. They are 😘👌🏾.
