Ice Skating in The Pond, Bryant Park, NY

Bryant Park is one of my favorite smaller parks in NYC.  I have written about it here before.  It is the main location of every year’s Fashion Week , and of many more events year round. But in the Winter especially, the park is transformed into a Winter Wonderland, and The Pond is created hosting a free skating rink, along with shops for the holidays, a gorgeous Christmas tree, and bar/restaurant, Celsius, with heating lamps that make it possible to enjoy a hot cup of cocoa, or whatever other beverage you prefer in the seating area outside overlooking the skaters.

My family and I have spent many evenings here and though the crowds closer to the Holiday season make it harder to skate with the little ones who are still just learning, the people watching is still fabulous, and the scenery such an example of what makes NYC wonderful. After the recent snow fall my kids had more fun playing in the snow and so that’s what they did instead as my husband and I watched the skaters and enjoyed the evening out.

The Pond has holiday hours in place till the 31 of December, with regular hours resuming on January 1, so check their website for details.

If you are still celebrating the holidays, or just want to celebrate the beautiful winter season in the marvelous city, head over to Bryant Park.  It’s centrally located, between the West and East side of Manhattan as well.

During our most recent visit we had come from taking in the window displays at Bloomingdale’s and eating ice cream at Dylan’s Candy Bar. Then after visiting The Pond, we headed West and walk through Times Square, past Toy’s R Us and other favorite spots along the way.

And it’s a perfect setting whether it’s family night, or date night. I encourage you to visit before it is gone again for the season. Though I love it most at night, when the lights of the city are looking down upon us, it truly is a fun place to visit no matter what time of day.

[…] Citi Pond is Bryant Park’s ice skating rink and it will be from October 26, 2010 to February 27, 2011. They were already setting up the lights and all the things that convert this already beautiful park into a winter wonderland tight in the middle of the city. Expect to see the winter shops pop up around November 5, 2010. Kids love these as they have a lot of fun little items and plenty of which serve as really cute gifts. […]

Have you ever been to a shop so pretty and cozy it Have you ever been to a shop so pretty and cozy it makes you emotional? In NYC, @niconeco_zakkaya is up there as a fave for me.

This Japanese-inspired stationary boutique in the East Village gives me all the fuzzy feels and I was sad to hear that after 8 years unharmed, their charming shop sign was vandalized.

They are calling on a creative illustrator who might be interested in bringing a new one to life. Check their Insta for more. And as always, support, shop, and give all the love to small businesses wherever you live and your travels may take you. And next time you are in the East Village, go check them out, and their cafe in Williamsburg, @loafonpaperny (see my reel on them). My 🫶🏾 to this little shop.

Rode the ferry a few minutes from Dumbo to Williamsburg for a stroll and some delicious coffee.

Walked through Domino Park and into @birdeenyc, where I just had to taste a few of their delicious pastries and churro latte!

Then strolled over to @loafonpaperny and shopped for some pretty stationary goodies while sipping on their Earl Grey Matcha.

The perfect way to kick off a stunning day in the city!

My list of fave cafes continues to grow, and I am saving them in my “NY Cafes” highlights for those who are following along. ☕️

Healing my soul with people I love while trekking Healing my soul with people I love while trekking through glens in search of an eternal flame. 🔥

This hike, in Chestnut Ridge Park, near Orchard Park, a suburb of Buffalo, NY, is a moderate, 1.5-mile round trip (more or less) that takes you on forest trails, with some stairs, and creek walking; so definitely bring waterproof shoes with grip. This popular spot can get crowded, but if you’re lucky enough to have a solo experience like we did (because of rain), it’s pretty magical.
The most perfect date night in the most perfect li The most perfect date night in the most perfect little bistro in the most perfect New York destination. No, not NYC. The Finger Lakes.

The entire experience at @deanlanedining felt so incredibly elevated and special, and some might even say unexpected, especially from a farmhouse in rural Dundee, NY.

Husband and wife team, Michael and Lisa Dean create a wonderful farm-to-table prix fix menu, beautifully paired with wines selected by Sommelier @danbrezinsky, who, for as long as the moment allows, further complements the first tastings with a sharing of his deep knowledge and passion for the Finger Lakes wines he serves. The individual pairings per course (4) are optional but I do highly recommend as they influenced each dish and in some cases, my opinion of certain wines.

The vibe is intimate and personally, I enjoyed the early seating as I got to admire the sunset through the large dining room windows throughout my time there.

Their highly coveted B&B is fully booked for 2026, but reservations are open for limited seating at the restaurant, with menus changing weekly.

An absolute highlight, and a must during your visit to the Finger Lakes!
